Where to stay for 25th anniversary trip.

Maybe all of you can help me decide where to stay this August for our 25th anniversary. My husband agreed to two Florida trips this summer, one in June where he got to pick the resort (Wilderness Lodge) and the second in August where I decide. This is my dilemma. I absolutely love AKL but don't like being so far from everything else and also not having space to walk around outside of the resort. We also like the Yacht and Beach Club because it is within walking distance to Epcot and because they have quiet pools. Lastly, the monorail resorts are great because of the monorail. We will be staying at WDW for 3 nights and will probably splurge for concierge. All opinions are welcome.

I say, the YC/or B/C. Just because the area has so much to offer. Like you mentioned, you can walk to Epcot! They also have very good restaurants, and if you are interested, the Swan, Dolphin, Boardwalk are all right there for you to enjoy, too!

Wow, two trips in one summer, that is great!! :sunny: And CONGRATS on your 25th Anniversary!!! :bride: :groom:

Do you like the theming of the Polynesian resort?? Or do you think you'd prefer the theme of the Grand Floridian?? Personally, for a big anniversary like the 25th, I'd stay at either of those 2 resorts. I just think that since they are right there in front of the Magic Kingdom, and right on the monorail line, that they are the essence of Disney World! :teeth:

You mentioned liking the fact that the Epcot resorts have quiet pools. The Polynesian and the Grand Floridian each have quiet pools too, so don't let that be a factor! :)

In the end, I think you should pick the resort that you think have your favorite theme, and then stay concierge like you mentioned. I don't think you can go wrong, no matter which resort you end up choosing.

Have a wonderful time!! :flower:

I'd go with the Grand Floridian - I'm already dreaming of a 10th anniversary RPC concierge stay there and I've only been married 3 years! It is a beautiful resort and so romantic. It has the best dining options of any WDW resort IMHO. I've heard the honeymoon rooms are fabulous!

Thanks everyone for your input. I hadn't given much thought to the Grand Floridian but that is definitely something to consider. Maybe we'll try Victoria and Alberts for dinner.

What about a split akl and poly. That is what we did, akl savannah room and we initially booked a gardenview room at the poly, then I asked about the concierge and it only cost us 45.00 more to upgrade so I grabbed it. We like to do alot of resort only days though, so the concierge came in handy when we were lounging around the pool and being able to run and get snacks, and drinks, sitting on the beach with the 8 o.clock snacks from the lounge. It was great. Love the grounds of the poly.

We've been to both BC and GF and truely loved both. For a short 3 day trip I would also think about where you might want to eat.

We really enjoyed the Boardwalk area restaurants: Flying Fish & Spoodles
We didn't get to these but there is also the Yachtsman Steak house @ YC, and several restaurants at the Swan/Dolphin

We never did get to Citricos or Narcoosees at the GF when we were there. We did do the afternoon tea, which was very nice.

Also, have to think about which parks you will spend most time at. We loved walking into Epcot from the BC. But we found doing MK, especially late night, to be a bit of hassle, waiting for the busses.

At the GF, it was so quick and easy to get to MK, and not too bad to get to Epcot.

If you will just be staying at the resort, then I would think about the theming and the restaurants.

OK, guess I am rambling, but these kind of questions are really hard to answer, as everyone has different tastes.

Well, DW and I are going to see DS at our FL house in June and she wanted to stay a couple of nights at Disney for our 25th anniversary.

We (I mean she) decided that she wanted to stay at CBR, so I booked it with the AP rate for the night before and the hight of our anniversary.

WhileI thought that she would want to stay at the Poly, she just wants beach and beach type atmosphere.

We loved AKL and I wanted to go back, but she wants beach, so that's what she got.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary at the Poly lagoon view concierge this past December. To us it was sheer heaven. We LOVED sitting on the balcony and watching the lagoon. The boats passing back and forth all day was very pretty, and at night the boats were aglow in little lights. The fireworks were fantastic and the electrical water pagent was so cute to see! We are active and were in and out of our room all day, alot of exploring and also visiting the parks. The refreshments in the lounge were wonderful as was the lounge itself.

Yes, I feel this is very expensive but for only 3 days or soo it may be affordable. Honestly we had the best time!

Enjoy your 25th!

Pat

My husband & I celebrated our 20th anniversary last Fall with a stay at the Grand Floridian. That was the first resort that we ever stayed in at WDW and it held such fond memories for us. (I have a trip report on the Dis' Trip Reports board if you'd care to read about that stay.)

I would pick the one resort that your heart truly desires and book a reservation there. Only you know which resort that is. Listen to your heart.

Have a wonderful 25th anniversary. And I hope you have many, many more wonderful years ahead of you.

I vote OKW for one reason-jacuzzi tub big enough for two! We're already planning to go there for our 25th in a couple years (and a few times before then).
