Where to stay for 10 year wedding anniversary?

Which would you choose based on my post?

  • BCV, just keep your ressie

  • BWV, fun w/o the kids

  • VWL, close to your plans, sentimental value

I already have our home at BCV booked for early February for our 10 year wedding anniversary. It will be a quick trip, only 3 nights as I'm leaving my girls at home, my youngest for the first time! :(

I've already decided I'll try for POFQ for the night we arrive, waiting on an AP code as this resort was the first place we ever took a vacation together.

Then 2 nights at BCV or...
I'm wondering if I should switch to another when the window opens. (Always thinking ahead about WDW!)

Soooo, I'm doing a poll -

BCV - Close to Epcot, probably won't swim at SAB in February w/o girls.

BWV - Would try for BW view, close to Epcot, might try JellyRolls one night since we've never done that.

VWL - Have much love for this place, stayed here as an engaged couple before we got married.

OKW - Nope, want to be near some action, SSR - We won't go to PI this trip.

I know we'll end up at MK the most, our fav park, plus we want to take the Keys tour which we've never done. BUT, I'm sure MK will close early at night then so we'll end up at Epcot at night possibly.
I was thinking about trying for the California Grill, never done that either. I know VWL would be just a boat ride away from the Contemporary.

Hubby doesn't care, I don't know what I'll pick!
Anyone care to vote or give their suggestions?
Thanks!

I hope this question is OK-isn't the jacuzzi at OKW the only one big enough for two people? That might factor in to your decision. Otherwise, I remember meeting a CM who'd stayed at VWL for her honeymoon-seemed REALLY happy!

This is an easy one - VWL - too much history to ignore for you guys plus easy boat ride to MK or resort launch to the CR

thanks

Shan...I think it is wonderful you are doing WDW together. Great idea for a romantic anniversary.

I chose BCV, although I think you win no matter what you choose. I think the jacuzzi at BCV is big enough for two. But, I don't know for sure because when we go I usually have little kids splashing around in it. Let us know how it goes!:love2:

(For our 15th anniversary back in October, I bought my wife a horse. :earsboy: )

It only makes sense, he did ask me to marry him at the castle. princess:

So far from the suggestions I get the impression these Jacuzzis see a lot of action! :teeth:

The more I think about it the more I think I'm leaning toward VWL. I want to do the Keys tour at MK, tea at the GF, dinner at the castle because that is where he proposed, dinner at California Grill for the fireworks another night, etc. (All the things I can't do with the kids, especially the three mountains at MK!) Just seems like the MK area is where we'll be at most, with the exception I wanted to do the rehitching at GG for lunch one day and maybe JellyRolls at BW.

Another thought is it might be cold? VWL just seems right when it is cold to sit by the fire!

Anyone think it will be hard to switch at seven months for that time of year?

I voted for VWL. It is by far the most romantic resort, plus it is my favorite.:D Nothing beats sitting by the fire on a chilly evening, or sitting out on the porch in the rockers just enjoying the night and each other with some quiet conversation and a drink. Plus, it is a boat ride away to the MK. I don't think you'll have any problem making a reservation at the seven month window unless you're going during President's Week.

I voted for VWL. I know you really like VWL, and it would be a great place for an anniversary trip.
I think you once said it was your husband's favorite too???

We will be doing the same in May of '05.

I think you will have a very good chance on the 7mo switch especially if you waitlist as well if needed

Sounds like VWL is going to work best for the 2 of you and your activity list as well

As for temperature, I am sure you two will work something out to keep warm! ::yes::

thanks

I voted for VWL because the fireplace that time of year is great! Just sitting around in the rocking chairs in front of the fireplace is SOOOOO relaxing. And sitting in the hot tub with the steam rising in the cool air with the tall pine trees surrounding you is absolutely heavenly.

Have a great time wherever you go. And have someone take your pictures in front of the castle to remind you of your proposal.

ITA!!!! All those memories, your anniversary, very close to Cinderella's Castle--where DH proposed, plus the fantastic location for all your plans/reservations! It has to be VWL hands down!!!!! A great restaurant for adults, you might want to consider at WL is Artist Point. Great food and very nice atmosphere--try to get a table with a window view. I would do both Cal Grill and Artist Point, if possible--if not, stick with Cal Grill. Both are among our favorite WDW restaurants.
Have a wonderful trip and Happy Anniversary!!!

VWL -- the fireplace is great if its cool. Location is fabulous for MK.

Have a great trip!

I'd vote for OKW!

Okay, just checking to see if you're reading all the posts. :p

This is a vote for VWL. When you were looking to add on, you told us that VWL was "where your heart was". What better place to spend a romantic getaway?

Thanks everyone. I really knew I wanted VWL, but I was worried about the MK closing so early this time of year and BCV and BWV are just so close to Epcot for later at night.
But, when I started thinking about it most of what we want to do is in the MK area anyway and this is a short trip.

Actually, we were staying at CBR on the trip he proposed. But, I have no desire to go there again. Isn't that terrible of me? I have much more fond memories of POFQ and WL.

POFQ cause it was our first trip together and the first time I actually stayed onsite and not at a Holiday Inn with my Dad's discount. (He works for them.) Wow, I was blown away and have never been back offsite except for either the first or last nights.

WL cause I was in AWE! Who wouldn't be? We really didn't have the money then, but wanted to stay there so badly shortly after it opened. It was worth every penny!

Now, does anyone have any tips on how to get a California Grill PS during the fireworks? Is it hard to get in there and how do you even know what time to shoot for if park hours don't come out until way after the PS window?

Thanks!

I voted for VWL -- Stay at the place that means the most to the two of you.

HAVE FUN no matter where you stay! :love2:

Sounds like you really want to go to VWL for all those wonderful sentimental reasons. So I vote VWL.

As much as I love BCV for myself, I voted for VWL, I think for you, this is the best bet!

I know someone who proposed on main street 11 years ago while staying at CBR. He also fell in love with the Wilderness Lodge and enjoyed planning his 10th anniversery around a DVC resort and the Keys to the Kingdom tour. That someone is me!...Shan, your not my wife, are you?

We celebrated our 10th at VBR in July of last year. Because of the time of year we opted for ocean over parks but would have picked VWL hands down otherwise. We did Keys to the Kingdom and previewed Mission Space on our last day. We had a great time alone together and wish you two the same.

I am currently having the same discussion with myself. However my ressie is at OKW (our home resort) and the 6-10 of December. We are actually staying at the Swan for a conference on Friday and doing Universal on Sat-Mon. We are staying at the Royal Pacific on Saturday and Sunday nite.

We are staying at VWL with the kids in Sept, so I was thinking either BCV or BWV too. We have never stayed at VWL and I may find myself wanting that one after we go.

I think for atmosphere and romance the VWL would be my choice too. OH I don't know, I keep changing my mind.

We have taken several trips to OKW before we were members so that holds the most sentimental value for us.

I keep telling myself this is my one chance to stay at the lodge in December and see all the decorations since we won't have the kids with us.

Well, Happy Anniversary!! I know whatever you decide to do you will have a fabulous time.

Since it sounds like the majority of what you want to do is near the MK, and surrounding area, I'd go for the VWL too. You can always take a cab to & from the BW if you don't feel like fighting the busses, and do you thing on the BW and go into & out of Epcot via the International Gateway. We have done that on occasion, when we just haven't felt like dealing with the crowds, the stops etc. It's not terrbily expensive, and besides, it's your anniversary right? Who's better than you?

As far as the California Grill PS, call them, make a PS, tell them it is your anniversary celebration dinner and you'd love a table near the window so you can see the MK fireworks. Usually, for special occasions, they try to accomodate you. Just as an FYI, if you don't get seated near the window, you can go out onto the overlook which is right off the restuarant.

Rent out the points and stay in the Concierge rooms at the Grand Floridian. Short boat ride to MK and you can see the fireworks over the castle from the verandah while having dinner at Narcoossees which is my favourite Disney restaurant. More romantic and IMHO better food than California Grill.

Whatever you choose have fun .
