Where to stay between Gulfport and Mobile??

We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott that some one mentioned and it was a really nice hotel and right across from the beach. There is even a line drawn in the lobby showing where the water was after hurrican Katrina (very interesting). We were there in May, but the weather ended up being bad, so we didn't get to go over to the beach. We went to the hard Rock to eat and wander the casino and we visited Keesler AFB.

Jion the Marriott Rewards program, it's free, they often have specials just for members and they have some great deals

Try the Hampton Inn in Biloxi. It is right across Hwy 90 from the beach and the folks there are very helpful.

I'm looking at the hotels listed. I can't find a deal for the casino hotels but I wonder if it is worth it to go over and eat there like you did PrincessSuzanne?? We're looking at Labor Day weekend now and I'm afraid deals will be scarce but it might be nice to visit a nice place!!

We really enjoyed going over there, the buffet was excellent, so many choices. I have never seen a buffet like that before. We love looking at all the memorabilia in there also.

The view from the parking deck was amazing.

It will be difficult to find a low rate Labor Day Weekend. If you decide to eat at a casino buffet, make sure to sign up for a Player's Club card first. Some offer a free buffet/discount when you enroll in the club. Also, if your birthday is in September, you will get a free buffet at Hard Rock.

Pretty much nowhere. It is only an extra hour and a half to 2 hours to get to Gulf Shores and the really nice beaches. There honestly isn't anywhere in the stretch between Gulfport and Mobile that I would recommend over going on to the Gulf Shores area. What about taking the ferry over to Ft Morgan? There are some really nice condo complexes on that end of Ft Morgan Rd.

I'm from Mississippi too and have to agree with this. We MUCH prefer the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, Alabama area. I go to the MS coast from time to time on business but would never vacation there. While going out to Ship Island sounds like it will give you better water, I think you would have to pretty much make it an all day trip. I like to come and go and still see the beautiful beach/water so a condo in south Alabama works better for us.

Will there be shells on the beach in MS or do we have to go out to the island?

Shells are not plentiful on our beaches. You'll have better luck in the island.
