Where to stay before cruise?

We are booked for a 4 night cruise out of Port Canaveral in February (yay!) and I'm trying to decide where to stay before the cruise.

We will be arriving into MCO 3 days before the cruise starts. My DH would like to skip the parks this time, so we are thinking Kissimmee Swamp Tour one morning and Kennedy Space Center one day. The rest of the time will be whatever we feel like doing at the time (ie., not planned...so not my nature). I am trying to decide whether we should stay at one hotel for those 3 nights, or switch it up. Thinking maybe:

Day1 - arrive at MCO & stay at WDW hotel (leaning towards moderate)
Day 2 - checkout of WDW hotel, drive to swamp tour, then head to Cocoa beach area. Stay at hotel in that area (maybe Homewood Suites Cocoa Beach)
Day 3- Kennedy Space Center (second night at Homewood)
Day 4 - Start Cruise

Or would it be better to stay in one spot? We are a family of 4, but my kids will be 14 & 10, and switching hotels would not be a huge amount of work.

If money is tight, you can get far better accommodations for less money than Disney for 1 night. Since you are not doing a park, head to DS, watch fireworks from the beach, or something on those lines. Lots you can do and for a lot less than what WDW charges for a room.
