I'm doing some research for a friend's upcoming first trip to the world. They are coming at the end of March and think they want to stay at the Poly. They have 2 young children (3 and 5), and want to be convenient to MK. They want some suggestions for room locations. They may be interested in concierge. Is there any construction going on right now? I don't know much about the Poly at all, so any help would be great. Also, what kind of rates should they expect with short notice?

The Poly is a great place for small kids - the monorail ride to the MK is so convenient.

Have you seen Tikiman's website? It's the best!

There is construction going on right now - actually refurbishment - but not a big deal. There are updates on the above web site.

We love the consierge at the Poly - very good if you have small kids.

Some buildings are undergoing refurbishment, but refurb is supposed to be completed by fall.

The entire Polynesian resort is convenient to MK.

Concierge is usually in the Hawaii building, but that building is under refurb until Sept, I think. Concierge is being moved to the Tahiti building, which is on one end of the resort, closer to the TTC.

If they want fast access to the GCH and the resort monorail, then ask for Aotearoa or Raratonga.

Check out Tikiman's web site to read up on all building locations and the refurb schedule.

Avoid asking for specific room numbers as that limits the room assignor from meeting your requests if that room is occupied. Try to limit your requests...reports are that they are really looking at only your "first" request. So think about what's most important:
Close to the pool, balcony or patio in the room (most buildings have no balcony on the 2nd floor), close to GCH, etc.

I think the Hawaii building (consierge) is scheduled for rehab in June. It's a great building - wonderful location.
