Where to stay at Old Key West in a 2 Bedroom?

We will be staying in a 2 bedroom at Old Key West late in September and I am looking for some suggestions on room requests. This is our first trip to WDW and we will be traveling with our 2 1/12 year old, 1 1/2 year old and my parents. We are renting our own car, but I imagine it wouldn't hurt to be moderately close to a bus stop as well as to the pool. I understand OKW is pretty spread out. But any expert opinions out there? Thanks in advance for any advice.

There are no bad locations at OKW. Every room has either a golf view, water view or woods view. I have been staying at OKW every year since '92. I don't make location or room requests.

Of all the areas I have stayed in, the Turtle pond area and bldgs 22-26, probably are slight favorites, but I still don't even make requests.

Hi I agree with MissyinNM, there is really no bad location at OKW. Its a beautiful resort! We usually request the turtle pond area and a top floor unit. Before requesting an upper floor, make sure no one in your party has an issue with climbing stairs, there are no elevators. Also, we request a unit that has a doorway in the hallway into the washer/dryer bathroom, so that people don't have to cut through the master bedroom to use the bathroom.

we just returned from OKW and had a 2 bedroom home. we were in building 12 which is across from the hospitality house, main pool, etc. this is a smoking optional building, but had been recently "rehabed" so it was fresh! this was an easy walk.

If you request a "lockout" 2 bedroom, then you will have two separate entrances to the vacation home. This comes in very handy when traveling with other adults.

Being near a bus stop is nice but if you are on the outer perimeter of the resort you will hear traffic from the main road. You may want to consider an "inner" resort building near a bus stop/pool/etc.

Have a wonderful time. Don't forget that there are internal buses in the sense that any bus stops at the hospitality house on its way out of the resort. You can always catch a ride on one.

We were in building 62 in April and I have requested it again for our upcoming trip in October. It's close to the bus stop, the hospitality house, and it also has an elevator!! I have a 2 year old and a one year old so the elevator is a must with our giant double stroller!!! LOL

I have found that it is easier to take the buses to the parks vs. the rental car. This is especially true for MK. So, if you do plan on taking the bus, there is a bus route through the resort with the five bus stops within the resort. The hopsitality house bus stop is the last stop before heading out to the parks which is nice, but most of the time it is the last stop when returning back to the resort. Pennisular is a good area because it is a short walk to front with the bigger pool and wonderful playground for the young ones and it is the first stop on the route....SO if you miss your bus, you can take a short walk up to the hospitality house and catch that same bus before it heads out to the parks.

We have found all the areas we stay have something wonderful about them although we do like the waterviews the best because my kids love to feed the ducks. I also will live with pitter patter of little feet above me on the first floor rather than lugging up a stroller and convincing my youngest to walk up the stairs to our villa!!!!
