Last year we stayed at the BC for two weeks, booked hotel, DDP, and tickets through Disney UK, booked flights separately through Virgin. It was very easy booking through Disney, but wanted some advice on alternative options.

We did Discovery Cove (plus dolphins) and Seaworld, Harry Potter at Universal and would like to do a little more off site this time. Will prob book a car this time for at least one week as well.

We know we liked staying in the centre and DS and DD loved the pool, so we are looking at staying there again (although will look at alternatives). We will go the last two weeks in August again.

We don't know what other options there are for booking and whether DIY is the way to go?

Anyone got any other options?

are you going during free dining?

Old Key West is really well priced during free dining..

there have been many posts on the board that Complete Orlando is cheaper than disney.UK for free dining.....

and since there are 4 of you, i would suggest getting either the one or two bedroom villa at OKW.....they're very large and come with their own washer and dryer (really nice to have when you're there for 2 weeks)..

we've stayed in the 2 bedroom at OKW and they're absolutely huge (1,350 square feet) and during free dining it's really a bargain...

As far as I know it is during free dining.
I have had a look at OKW and wondered how far away from anything it is? My DD has Coeliac disease so cannot eat wheat flour... it can become very tedious for her to have the same things every morning for breakfast. During the day we move around a lot, so the choices are wider for her.

We liked the buffet style breakfasts as it means she can have what she fancies every morning.

But also checked the prices and we could get a much better deal on OKW than BC for the same times.

in the one and two bedroom villas you have a complete kitchen...

so you could go to the store and buy gluten free food to eat in...

be careful when you look at the prices to be sure you're looking at the one or two bedroom...

as for convenience, BC is definitely more convenient for epcot and DHS...

if you were happy at BC, then i'd stay there....although personally i prefer the YC - same place, same pool, just different theming...i like the YC theming better...

We liked the BC and it's location and were happy with the room, although they were quite small. We didn't spend enough time awake in the rooms to really worry about that though.

Having said that we ate in the YC every morning bar a few for breakfast as we could have the buffet and if DD wanted gluten free mickey waffles we could order them any time we wanted. It was so lovely for DD to be treated as such a 'special guest' instead of the 'inconvenience' she is made to feel in this country. We also ate dinner there most nights...... DH lurved the steak on tap!!

My Grandson was diagnosed when he was about 10 months with Coelliacs, like you say places here are not geared for them, have told DD its so different when you go out to eat in the US.
we usually do DIY , although we do not do Disney now as DD is not to keen ,prefers the big coasters now.
we usually do a week at the beach on the Gulf side

the nice thing about the YC, all the rooms have balconies.....not so at the BC..

well, given what you've said, i think you should stick with the BC/YC....stormalong bay is still the best pool on property in my opinion...
