Hello all, after researching for about a year we finally went off to WDW in October, without me prompting him Cullen my 2 year old asked today when he could see Mickey Mouse again. So I told him he had to ask his Dad (ok I did help him with the phone call) Hubby has said that we can look into going for Cullens birthday in Feb. I found these boards invaluable for our trip to WDW so I am I back for more help to check out a trip for Disneyland Paris.

So I have a few questions:

Is is better to book a package and if so with who? Or do you do it alone.

How long does it take to drive from the UK. We live in Hertfordshire.

What is the transport like when on site (in case we decide to take the Eurostar)

I notice they have 20% off is this already taken off the price you are quoted or does it get taken off at the end. (Just looked up Shortbreak Ltd)

OK think that will do to start me off. Hope you can all help me out.

Thanks in advance Kirsten

We have always booked accomodation through Disney. If you phone you only have to pay a deposit. Whereas booking on-line means you pay the whole holiday at once.
For driving (through Eurotunnel) is is about 3 - 3 1/2hrs when you arrive in Callais :)

And :welcome: to DIS!

I have always found it cheaper to book directly with Disney, and sort out travel separately. We have gone with Eurotunnel the last few years, usually using Tesco vouchers to pay for the crossing. It's about a 3 hr drive from Calais, on good roads, with tolls costing about 18 euros I think. If you fly there is a shuttle from the airport.

Transport is great on site - you don't need a car, and all disney hotels are in walking distance from park except Davy Crockett Ranch.

20% off is taken into account on Disney site when quote is given - you don't get a further 20%. In Feb, prob the one night free offer will work out cheaper though. :confused3

Hiya-we are also in Herts (east) so can answer that part-usually takes us hour/hour and half to Dover, my hubby reckons same to Folkestone, then like others said around 3 hours from Calais, good, easy route, though don't forget the tolls (just under 20 euros when we were there in August).

Have lots of fun-we are going back in January and February-love it there so much!! :cheer2:

Oh and should have said-my Jan tirp is very cheap-we too used clubcard vouchers for the Eurotunnel, and our hotel is only £140 for 4 of us for 3 nights (booked through Expedia, hope I am allowed to say that?). We bought annual passes in August and still have some spending money left from then too-real budget break! :goodvibes

Definately get a price from DLP Direct, you can get a price or several online by going through the book a package process, without actually completing the sale.
I have noticed that "extra day and night" offer isn't applicable with the 20% discount.
I booked just before the 20% discount was announced and got an extra day and night and kids under 12 go free for £499.00
When I price it up now I can only have the -20% and kids under 12 go free but it comes out at £450.00.

Have a play around with the dates and hotels to see which gives you the best deal, some deals are only ever for specific hotels on specific dates and then they seem to change.

:)

thanks everyone, I did a couple of quotes and got Cheyenne for 370 for 3 nights 4 days which I thought was ok. They really sting you for the Eurostar though if you go through the site, I got it much cheaper on line direct with Eurostar. I haven't booked anything yet.

How busy it is likely to be on the weekends. I would rather go during the week but hubby is a contractor so if he is in work the trip becomes a lot more expensive because we have to take into account his lost earnings.

Glad it is easy to get around without the car, we think we the kids it would easier to take the Eurostar so the kids can get up and move about which the obviously can't do in the car.

Will keep looking into it all.

Thanks Kirsten

Hi Kirsten.

Definitely go by eurostar! Best way to travel!!

You dont need to worry about on site transport at DLRP at all as everything is walking distance. :)

And book eurostar direct through them and hotel direct with disney. :)

Weekends will be a lot busier but feb is a quiet month so will all be very do-able. :)
