Where to spend the weekend?

Just curious as to what fellow DVCers would do! I just booked a trip for President's week. Even though we originally bought enough points to do a full week in a 2 BR every year, we are already totally borrowed out and only had enough points to do 5 nights on points(and even those points are borrowed). (Note to self - never book another cruise on points, especially during Easter week!). We would still like our trip to be one week long, and I can't decide what to do.

Here are the options I'm considering:

1.Spend the weekend at a Disney resort I haven't been to yet and have a full week at Disney. Nice and relaxing and won't feel rushed to get everything in.

2. Spend the weekend at Vero. We have been there but only for one night and wouldn't mind going back. Best deep tissue massage I've had in my life!

3. Spend weekend at Universal. Been there too, but the boys (13 & 15) had a good time and would like to go back someday. Would mean having to buy passes for both Disney and Universal.

Of course my own personal first choice would be to purchase more points, but after 3 add-ons, I'm not sure that's an option.

So...what would you do under these circumstances?

If the boys like the beach/swimming, etc. , my first choice would be Vero - no passes and a great place for the weekend.

If not, I'd do Universal and stay nearby. Believe they are still selling the " buy 2 get 3rd day free" passes. If you can afford to stay at one of the on sie Universal hotels, you all can get FOTL - nice feature for a busy holiday weekend.

Have fun!

P.S. I agree about cruising on points - you won't need more points if you quit doing that, LOL!

LOL, I agree with Carol....Quit cruising on points! It is generally not considered a good value for point usage.

If you have APs, I would stay at a resort you have been wanting to stay at. If not, I would go to the shore, but that's me.

Just my preference, but I would choose option 2 or 3. We ALWAYS do 5 nights at Disney, and two nights elsewhere (usually Universal - I recommend Portofino Bay Hotel). It almost feels like two separate vacations that way. Also, IMO, your boys are the perfect age for Universal.

If the two weekend days are before your 5 Disney days, then I'd do Universal. Going to Disney after two relaxing days at the beach may be too much shock to the system!

Conversely, two days at the beach after 5 days of Disney pace would be a nice way to unwind. After 5 days of theme park atmosphere, two more days at Universal with two teenage boys (which IMO is much louder than Disney) may be too much too handle!

As far as passes for Universal, weve found that the Annual Power Pass is the best value, especially if you plan to return within a year. It's $120, only $20 more than a 3 day pass. Check out the Universal boards here on the DIS for lots of helpful info.

Have fun!

Just solved this very dilema.

Booked a studio at SSR for 5 nights, including Fri/Sat

We changed it two nights, Fri/Sat at a moderate, POFQ for AP rate of $109 plus tax and were able to upgrade the next 3 nights at OKW 1 bed and upgrade our Oct trip to a 1 bedroom for 14 points more.
:flower: A studio is sweet but the one bedroom can't be beat. :flower:

We don't usually go Fri/Sat because of the higher points. Squeezing in a few more trips because of that AP burning a hole in our points. We too are borrowed for the first time. Oh Well~!
