Where to sit on a plane

I too place a high value on life. My only point is that if you want to improve your chances for surviving a plane crash you'd be better off paying attention to what you wear (synthetics are more likely to melt and burn) and to the pre-flight safety instructions than to where you sit. Those factors don't make as interesting headlines, however.

The point about synthetics is very well-taken. It is a major factor with respect to survivability in a crash. My point was with respect to the OP's original question, not overall.

Oh, so very true. But, if a plane drops from the sky, it won't matter what you wear, trust me. I do put a high value on my life, however, I live it and don't worry about "what ifs". I am in more danger driving in a mall parking lot than I am on a plane.

I think the point, though, is that beyond a certain point you can't control what happens, but UP TO that point you can.

I didn't mean to start a debate here, LOL! I was just wondering, in terms of smoother, quieter rides, which were the better seats. My theory is, if the plane is going down, it doesn't matter if we're in the front, middle or back. And, I answered my own question with our return trip, last night....we got a complimentary upgrade to FIRST CLASS!!! the only way to go! LOL :D

I always book front seats, rows 6 and lower. I notice less drag feel in the front of the plane, and that makes me feel better when I'm nervous while flying.
