Where to sign up for Jedi training?

We've never done Jedi training and are nervous about the crowds for the star wars rides, that we won't be doing. Where do we sign up? Do we need to do it at rope drop? Will we be fighting through the ROR crowds to do this? When we sign up, do we get to pick a time or are we just assigned one? We have our fastpasses for the 3 toy story rides in the morning and want to make sure Jedi training doesn't overlap them.

Register to the left of Indiana Jones as you look at it. We didn’t fight crowds for it. They’ll tell you when you need to come back. Each FP gives you a long window to get there so you should be able to squeeze it in. Also, people can modify their FP times throughout the day if there are openings (and there are often openings, just keep refreshing).

1. You don't HAVE to but the earlier you go, the more time slots to choose from
2. Yes but if you aren't riding something stand by there's no reason to get there an hour early. Just arrive 15 or so min before posted park opening. Lines will be down as the main crowds will be inside and waiting to get their BG.
3. You pick from all available times for the day. You will have no problems working around your FP. They have you return about 30 min prior to your show time. So you'll want about an hour free for the show.

And watch the weather. The stage is elevated and they cancel for even a sprinkle. Doesn't take lightening, any rain at all will stop or cancel the show. Highly important in summer when it tends to rain every afternoon.
Night is a nice time, the light sabers will glow then. And it's not hot
