HI all - our trip is fast approaching and I was wondering where is the best/most affordable place to rent an ECV? This is our first time so I want to make sure I am not getting a bad deal!

Thanks

Check out post 2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. It has everything you might need to know.

You can find that thread near the top of this board or follow the link in my signature.

I have had good luck with Apple Scooters.

thank you - they also seem to be the best priced!

I've looked at pretty much every company and the best deal I found was at yellow scooters. Their customer service was great for the reservation, no comment on the service yet since we haven't been, but everything I read online was good.

We haven't had any Yellow Scooter reviews on the board so I don't have any opinion on them. The only thing I want to point out is that they are not a "preferred provider" which means you must be present for delivery and pick-up of the scooter (preferred providers can leave/pick-up from the concierge). If that's an issue for you, you're going to be better off with Apple, which is a preferred provider. If you don't mind actually meeting the delivery person/pick-up person, then it doesn't matter.

Whether a company is a preferred provider or not doesn't say anything about the quality of service. The preferred providers have a contract with WDW that gives them the ability to drop-off/pick-up from concierge, come into the parks if a customer's scooter breaks down in the middle of touring, and some other things that I'm not remembering at this point.

You're right, forgot to mention that!

For us the problem was mostly a weight limit one with Apple. Their compact foldable scooters have a posted weight limit of 175 lbs... which my father in law is not even close to, heck I'm teetering on it. We'd have to go up to the 7 day rental of $190 instead of the captain chair version, which won't fold up as easily.

At Yellow it's $120 for their "packable" 4 wheeled scooter and the weight limit is 300 lbs.
