I would like to hear from those who have made their own food or eaten inside their room before. I want to order groceries and have it delivered to Pop Century. What is the process? Do I just need to order with my name and Pop will figure it out what room to deliver it to? Also when should I order the grocery? how many days ahead ? My family and I will arrive on March 7 and depart on March 13. I am also planning on using a hotlogic to heat up my food with a timer so that I will have food waiting for me when I get back to the hotel. Have anyone done that before? We always purchased meal plan, I really don't know how well I can deal with just eating the expensive food in the park! Should I request to have an extra fridge in the room? do they charge me extra? I am on a special diet that I need to eat 7 servings of vegetables a day so I will need a lot of refrigerator space for my salad.

We have ordered from Instacart. You will receive a text when they are on their way with the food. I met the driver at his car.

You should order ahead so you can pick the day/time of delivery before it's all booked up.

Not sure about the fridge.

Food cooking appliances are not permitted in Disney hotel rooms, other than those supplied by Disney (i.e. microwaves and coffee makers). You might want to rethink using a hotlogic and leaving it on when not in the room. You could return from a day in the park to find it has been unplugged and your food uncooked.

Disney will not place an extra fridge in your room but you can request a microwave. They are available on a first come basis and there is no charge. There are also microwaves and toasters in the food court for use by guests. You might want to have a Styrofoam cooler included in your grocery order and just load it up with ice daily to keep your veggies fresh, or place a second grocery order midway thru your stay in order to save space.

I've used Instacart.com and DizzyDolphinDelivery.com to deliver to my DVC resorts in the past. I had to meet the Instacart driver at the lobby entrance because there was alcohol in the order. Dizzy Dolphin left my order with bell services before we arrived and a bell hop brought it to us after we got our room. Of the two, DD was much more familiar with Disney and how to work with them. They were also more expensive. Instacart was less expensive and the level of service all depends on the shopper/driver that gets assigned your order. Both companies book up quickly, so I would arrange delivery no later than a week prior to arrival if using either of them.

Other delivery services include Amazon Fresh and GardenGrocer.com GG got a black eye on the disboards a few years back and I rarely see it recommended anymore. Amazon seems to do a satisfactory job at Disney. I was unimpressed with it when I tried them at home.

I think cooking...REALLY cooking...in a Value Resort room is going to be challenging. More so if you need to slice, dice or chop a lot of veggies. Counter space is at a premium and the only sink is the bathroom sink.

Most people who "eat in" opt for easy to prepare meals that are not as healthy as you would make at home. But when you're on vacation, you're allowed to let yourself go a little. I admire your intentions of sticking with your 7 veggies a day diet while there. Are low/no sodium canned veggies an option? It would save on refrigerator space and the need to clean and chop them.

Thanks for the great detailed information. I might go with Amazon Fresh. Do they also leave the grocery at the bell service? I am not going to order alcohol. Hubby and I are no fun, we don't drink. I have to stick with my 7 vegetables a day because I will suffer if not especially, I have stomach issues. I found paleo and high veg intake does help me. I promise I will eat some food that are non paleo because I love food. I just cannot over do it because I can get sick easy. My body is not acting as well as I used to be. I am 52 not 32. So far, I don't need to take any prescription drugs, food is my medicine that is why I need to be careful with what I eat. I will not bring my hotlogic. I think I will just get some prepackaged romaine salad with dressing with some precooked microwaveable meat.
BTW, how do I request a refrigerator at pop century? do I call them ahead of time ? or do I ask when I get there.

All Value Resorts have refrigerators in the room now.

I would consider at least checking on renting DVC points for an onsite condo and your problems will be solved as a cost probably not much more than you are paying to stay at Pop.

We always rent a car for the first day we are there. Costs us like $30-$40 and gives us the opportunity go other places besides grocery store, like to look for cheaper souvenirs or eat out off site for a night. There are several agencies in hotels near Disney Springs and at the Auto Care Center outside Magic Kingdom. I usually try for a DS location as I can just take the bus over to DS and walk. Much easier than waiting for someone to pick you up or bring you back after a rental. I've compare the items we expected to buy and figured we were going to pay about $25ish extra for the stuff and have delivered, so why not get a car for $10 or so more.

I agree here, but keep in mind that a DVC studio will still only have a microwave and small fridge. 1-BR and larger have the full kitchen and full size refrigerator. Also, the sleeping arrangements are different in DVC rooms. Depending on availability, you may only have a queen/king bed and a pull out/drop down couch. Some studios (Poly, Riviera, Boardwalk, Beach Club, Boulder Ridge) have a bed, pull out/drop down double and a drop down single.

I was really upset with the produce chosen for me , so for me ( instacart) it was worth a trip to walmart. I bought 2 foam coolers one for dairy and one for fruit etc. They were really small but only $2.50 each. The fridge in the room does not keep things super cold.. just cold enough.
I know it will take a little time from your day but it's worth getting what you want. The walmart is pretty close so it's not expensive to uber there
