Where to nap on resort change day?

We are doing a 13 day split stay Pop/AKL. DD3 is not an easy napper, so we planned 3 off days spread evenly through our stay so she will have a better chance of napping at least a few days. But it just occurred to me that one of our off days is when we are changing resorts and we won't have a room during nap time (11-4). We also won't have a stroller rental because it's not a park day.

Where can she take a nap?

don't quote me on this especially because i have not done a split stay onsite before.
but its most likely that your room will be ready.
you have a higher chance of it being ready if you do online check in and check off that early room access is a priority.
whether i've done online check in or not when i've arrived in the AM my room has been ready when i arrive or within 30 minutes of arrival.

I recommend you change your schedule so that your none of your "off days" is the resort change day. The chance is too high that you will be "resortless" mid-day when your daughter needs her nap.

I just changed our online checkin to prioritize early room access.

I wish we could change our days around, but we're only 41 days out, so it's tough to change FP+ and ADRs at this point.

Have you considered renting a stroller from a private company instead of renting park strollers? They deliver to the resort, it is much cheaper, and great nappable strollers.

The problem is that without a room of your own there's not anywhere that can be guaranteed to be quiet. I'd either change your schedule, not split your stay or (worst case) book an overlap between your rooms so you're never without one. More expensive, but probably the only way to guarantee a quiet nap on a split stay.

I don't think that there will be any problems for you to get the room earlier actually. And you should be able to head for a nap on the resort changing day. :goodvibes

I didn't need a nap, but wanted an earlier access to the room at YC on my stay there, and they fixed it right away. :thumbsup2

:tinker:

Instead of renting a stroller it would be cheaper to buy one of the small ones Disney has for sale. Then you could use it to stroll around the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and hopefully get your little one to nap. If she will only nap in a quiet room then you need to decide if you can switch your change day, or keep her up for a while without getting cranky.

that is not going to work very well for the 3yr old that OP has already indicated does not nap easily.
that was kinda the point of this thread.
They are staying at AKL??? There are some quiet places by their kiddie pool in the Kadani pool... actually I thought it was very peaceful there. During the day the pools did not seem that crowded and I was there over July 4th week last year.

I know what the point was, and I was stating what I would do. I don't know to the extent of not an easy napper, does she need total silence in a dark room, or did she need just to be away from commotion....each not easy napper is different...;)

I'll look into it. Our "little one" is 41.5 inches, so she's too big for even our full size stroller at home. She doesn't like going in a stroller, but we know she'll need one for Disney. DS11 was a great napper at that age. He'd nap anywhere. So it will be interesting to see how it goes this trip.

It looks like we'll hope our room is ready early or possibly look for a quiet spot to nap at AKL. I don't think we can change our schedule at this point without losing key FP+ and ADRs. One of the reasons I don't like having to plan everything out in advance.

The strollers at the parks are awful. They are hard plastic and not comfortable at all. We usually bring our own, but we have rented from an offsite company and it was great. 41.5 isn't really that big for a stroller. Unless she is 60 or 70 lbs, she'll be fine in a City Mini or whatever they companies are usually renting these days.

What FP and ADRs do you have the day before, day of and day after - you might think it is more of a problem to switch than it actually is.

I would not worry too much about it. Chances are very good your room will be ready. You need to check out by 11:00 so maybe try to make it a laid back morning. Try to get him to sleep as late as you can and then maybe have breakfast in the room and just chill out till close to 11:00. If the room is not ready, grab lunch and maybe by then it will be. What we have done when DS was three might not work for you simply because she is a bit bigger but it might. I would find a quite place ....... a hall in the resort, a isolated shady area, a deserted lounge area or something similar. I would walk him to sleep on my shoulder or find a quite comfortable chair and just cuddle him to sleep. Once he was asleep he and I would just chill out for a couple hours while DH and older DS did some things. We have even done this in a park a few times.

I decided to switch a few days around. The only big change is that our 7 Dwarf's FP+ went from 1 PM to 6:15, so we won't get many 4th FP+ for that day. But we have other park days and a better schedule now (and we're able to catch small world on the last day before it closes :-)). And now we are at AK on our resort switch day, so we'll be really close to the AKL when we check in later.

Now she better nap on those 3 off days.

Awesome! Probably a better plan. Just to be difficult, if your 7DMT FP isn't until 6:15 and won't get many additional FP that day...would you consider pushing it back even a bit more....it really is amazing in the dark....like maybe a 7:30 - 8:30pm FP, or even 7 - 8 would probably work...sunset is just before 8 at the end of August.

Interesting thought. DD3 is nervous in the dark, though.
