Where to hide the presents?

I'm curious, where do you hide the presents to keep them away from the kids? And once wrapped, where do you keep them? We have a small house and my kids go almost everywhere so I'm looking for some suggestions.

We actually keep ours at my inlaws until after the kids are asleep on Christmas Eve. My girlfriend keeps hers in the trunk of her car. I always have a few stashed in my cedar chest. I think my dad took ours to work with him and kept them in his office one year until his last day of work before Christmas and then just left them in his car until Christmas Eve. (we never took my dads car anywhere as a family)

They are all in a closet in the "guest room." I use that term loosely, as it is actually a dumping ground. The kids don't go in the basement unless they are with us, and they don't know yet to poke around for presents. (That will end soon I'm sure, with a 5 year old in the house!)

We put them in our family room half bath...it's kind of small and dark, so the kids don't use it. At thi spoint it's so full it's un-usable.

drop ceilings are an awesome place to hide stuff. Just make sure you dont put anything too heavy up there and make sure to set the packages on the crossbeams and not on the tiles themselves.

My kids don't snoop I actually have a shopping bag sitting next to the door for a week now that has presents in it. I have gifts for others on top but theirs are in there too. I also have some in my closet they don't go in there, or in the basement.

My DH laid a plywood floor in our attic and that's where the presents are kept. It covers the entire space over our garage, so I'm able to get up there to wrap also.

My mom and dad hide our presents in my mom's closet in their room. They know we know that the presents are in there, we just don't poke around, and whenever neither of them is home, they lock the door to their room.

When I was little, my mom would keep them at my grandparent's house because our apartment is so small. You could come across them without even trying regardless of where they got put. Now that I'm 16, she keeps them on the floor in her room with a sheet thrown over them simply stating "If you want Christmas to be dull without surprises, go ahead and look. You won't be ruining my Christmas."

My aunt and uncle who have a 6, 5, and 3 year old used scare tactics. There is a really dark section of their basement that they keep them in. They told the kiddos that there are monsters over there. Worked like a charm!

I keep them in large handbags and luggage that is in my closet. I also lock my closet and keep the key with me at all times or in the pocket of my bathrobe.

I keep the gifts in my closet. I use part of the closet for storage of holiday decorations and stuff like that, so I just put the gifts in boxes and store them in the middle of the other things. My oldest probably knows they're there, he just doesn't want to know what he's getting!

Once they're wrapped, they go right back in the closet. It works for us!

I hide them in my closets w/ blankets over them. I am so lucky that DS7 is not a snooper. He was actually in one of the closets the other day and did not realize the presents were in there. I moved them though, just in case he went into that closet again.

DBIL told DS7 today that his parents always hid his presents in their closet when he was young. I was furious. I could have really done some damage to that man today. I just glared at him instead.

My parents kept our presents at the neighbors. And I'm a snooper so I kindof realized thats where they kept them when they told me they kept out dog there for two days and then we got the dog for christmas. And plus I saw a box on their porch from Delias and they don't have any kids.

I have a bunch of boxes piled up all around the basement and do my shopping all year long and tend to throw stuff in the boxes. When I wrap them they go right back in those same boxes. Kids play down there all the time but would never suspect anything cause those boxes are always piled up down there and have been for years.

the presents from mom and dad are under the tree wraped up, the santa presents won't be brough home from MIL's still christmas eve, i still have to go there sometime and wrap them with santa's paper and lables... fun fun...

If you are hiding presents in more than one place ya better keep track!

Last year after all the presents were opened I needed to go in my closet for something and found 5 more!

I told the kids Santa left a few presents in my room!

Then I kept thinking ... Did I forget more????

I have tons of great hidding spots...camper, pump house, back of my car (which we call my traveling office, since it's filled with all my junk, so the gifts just mix in), neighbors barn, my desk at work, Grandpa's house, my closet, Longaberger hamper that has clean clothes that no one wears. The only problem is that I forget where I've put stuff. I wrap Santa gifts on Christmas Eve after the kids are in bed and then put the presents out. Presents from each other go under the tree as we wrap them. My DS11 and DD13 were getting some decorations out of the pump house last night and I said don't look in the Rubbermaid boxes. My DD was going to look, but my DS said not to because Santa may be watching.

The previous owners of our house built some nice-sized cabinets on a ledge in DDs room. Each one (there's 6) could hold a 13-inch TV with room for a DVD player easily. I have 1 cabinet for DS, one cabinet for DD & one for niece & nephew gifts. The only way you can get to it is with a ladder & the kids know they're not allowed to go up on the ladder (its kept in the garage) They know their toys are up there but so far, if I say 'I need to get in DDs cabinets so don't open her door' they will follow directions. It helps that they know that the ladder leans on the door so if they open it Mommy could get hurt.
I suppose at some point we might have to move the hiding place but for now its working.

The trunk of DH's car is usually jam packed from November through Christmas. If something is to big for that, I put it in the locked shed where the lawnmower, wheelbarrow, etc. live. The kids never think to look there.
