Where to have dinner in MK?

We're trying to decide where to have dinner when we visit Magic Kingdom. (we're on the dining plan) We are visiting MK on two different days, so we have CRT & Crystal Palace already. What are some other good options? I'm thinking of returning to Crystal Palace for dinner. Any suggestions?

CP dinner was one of the worst meals I have ever had at WDW (with Tony's Town Square a close second). We tend to eat outside of MK for dinner as we don't care for most of the TS places here at dinnertime. What about taking the monorail to one of the resorts? Kona has a decent dinner, as does the Grand Floridian Cafe. Narcoosee's and Cali Grille are 2 of our favorite places to eat before heading into MK for the evening.

How about the restaurants at one of the monorail resorts or WL. You could take the monorail or boat over to dinner and back to MK.

CR -- Chef Mickey (for characters)
The Wave (1 TS credit)
Califorinia Grill (2 TS credits on dining plan)

WL -- Whispering Canyon Cafe (1 TS)
Artists Point (2 TS)

Poly -- Ohana (1 TS)
Kona Cafe (1 TS)

GF -- 1900 Park Fare (1 TS and characters)
Grand Floridian Cafe (1 TS)
Citricos (2 TS)
Narcoosees (2 TS)

I think you will probably get a better meal in one of the resort hotels. We actually like Chef Mickey's dinner better than Crystal Palace. I had the worst meal I've ever had at WDW at Tony's Town Square. MK has better CS than TS restaurants, IMO.

We really like The Plaza in MK. In our experience it's not fancy food, but it's good food. I like the cheese steak sandwich. DH likes the strawberry chicken salad. Yummy.

While some people disagree. I love dinner at Tony's Town Square Restaurant. But I would call this a late lunch/early dinner. Perfect time is when the parade is scheduled. Make your reservation about 30 min before it and then ask for a table outside. If you don't mind waiting for it, this is a great treat to have front row seats for the parade~ Enjoy!! (And make sure to get the Creme Brulee)

Jump on the monorail and go to O'hana......if you can get a ressie. It is a hot ticket and a must for my family every time. It is great food, a great atmosphere and soooo much fun for the whole family.

I second this idea! We ate at the Whispering Canyon for the first time during our trip last fall... it was great! Food was delicious and the atmosphere can't be beat (that is, if you're not looking for a quiet dinner!)

We actually really enjoy Liberty Tree Tavern. We tried it years ago just for the characters they had back then (no longer), and we really like the Patriot's Platter (basically traditional Thanksgiving meal). Yummy... :)

Last year we took the monorail from MK to Kona for dinner one night, and Ohana's another night. Both times we went back to the park to finish the evening. It went so well, I don't think we will be eating a TS dinner at MK ever again.

If you are not staying at one of the monorail resorts, then this is a chance for the kids (and you) to ride the monorail. It is also an opportunity to check out one of the other resorts. If there is a wait before your seating, you can just go to one of the gift shops.

I agree that taking the monorail to one of the resorts is the best option. We did that last year and went to the GF to 1900 Park Fare. It was a good meal with great Character interaction. Cinderalla loved my 3yo DS and asked him to dance 3 times. He turned her down every time, too shy.

Anyway, if you don't want to leave the park I recommend LTT. They have really good down home food and big portions. Unfortunately, the theming isn't great and there are no characters. I guess it depends if it is the food or the ambiance that is important to you.

If we eat lunch or dinner in the MK, we get CS at Pecos Bill or Cosmic Ray's. If we want TS, we leave for Kona Cafe or The Grand Floridian Cafe.

The best park would be MK. You can take a boat to the WL or a bus. The buses are supposed to be faster. There are threads on this site stating that fact. I wouldn't know, because we always take the boat. My kids would be disappointed if we didn’t. The boat is just a pleasant way to get there.

We love to stay at the WL.

I’m not 100% about the time it takes to get there. If I remember right the boat may take 15 minutes, but you need to factor in wait time as well.

I would recommend Liberty Tree Tavern. It's one mom and I did on our last day in September 2010 and we thought the food and service were both very good.
