An absolute favorite of mine is the Sushi bar at the Poly. Andres is the chef there and i've been there enough that he knows me..lol. I think his sushi is as good as Cali Grill's for half the price. You also can order from the whole Kona menu when you sit at the sushi bar (only think i like from kona is the pork chop and the sticky wing appetizer though).
The sushi bar doesn't take reservations. It's walk-up, first come first serve. If you are there for an early dinner, there's almost never anyone there.
Oh, if you sit at the sushi bar, you have to REQUEST the kona welcome bread (pineapple sweet bread with macadamia nut butter). It's still complimentary, but doesn't get served unless requested.
The wave at Contemporary is kinda nice (they are having menu changes so who knows) but I enjoyed it when I was there.
I'm not a fan of most of the GF restaurants other than the tea room.
If you want something quick. I really enjoy Captain Cooke's at the poly. They have unique options like the pulled pork sandwich or stir fry noodles plus make your own dole whips. Great view of the MK fireworks out at the main pool of the poly too. Plus, electrical water pageant shows there every night at 9pm.
