Where to have breakfast on I-Drive?

I know what you mean, we have always just stuck to the Ponderosa but after reading various threads on eating out, I am certainly going to try some different places too. :)

Thanks for all the feedback folks - I think I may have to give Golden Corral a go. Where abouts on I-Drive is it?

As you are heading north up I-Drive towards Beltz, it's on your left behind a Harley Davidson Store if memory serves, on the corner of I-Drive and West Sandlake Road. It's difficult to see driving as it's hidden quite well.

I like Ponderosa also, it's just Golden Corral has a better buffet and a far larger desert table to choose from.

The first time I went to Orlando, Ponderosa seemed the safe option as we didn't know our way around and it seemed the restuarant of choice for Brits, but then you get a bit wiser.

For me it's not a case of sticking with one place, I'll visit many whilst there.

Yes, if you turn in to the harley davidson parking area just before Sandlake road traffic lights you'll see it straight ahead, building to the left of parking area.
Don't forget to look out for the discount books (we found lots on the way out of Golden Corral and used them next time we came!).

We Always use Sizzler or Ponderosa After a few days of Orlando binge eating though I go for spanish omelette and fruit (Sometimes Corned beef Hash)!! Which is Lovely!!! iN Ponderosa and when we do sixxler the kids go mad on ice cream!!

Hi

I would heartily recommend Golden Corral restaurant. It must have the best selection when it comes to buffet’s. As a matter of fact, we arrived at the restaurant at about 10:45 and where told as they stop serving breakfast at 11:00, we could transcend into lunch at no extra cost. So not only did we manage to have a great breakfast, but we also had a blow out lunch at no extra cost.

Thank goodness it was a free day to be spent lazing around the pool.

Ok, seems Golden Corral is coming out as one of the better buffets on here. :cool1:

Can anyone tell me if it's a superior breakfast buffet, or if it's the dinner buffets that make this place the best?

Seems like a daft question, I know, but we only tend to 'buffet it' at breakfast, then we make pigs of ourselves at Race Rock, Espn etc etc for dinner :cake:

14 days until we go :Pinkbounc

Their breakfast buffet is excellent, the food is just better quality than many I've visited and there is more choice.

The problem with Ponderosa is the quality varies depending on which restaurant you go to.
The one near the South end of I-drive is very good, at least in the evening it is. Clean and the service is very good.
However, we went to one on 192 for breakfast in March and it was horrible.

Hi There, there are 2 ponderosa's on I drive as somebody has already mentioned. I agree that for a cheap cheerful pig out before a heavy day then its fine. Have done Golden Corral for brekkie which is better, a little more upmarket. Last year we tried IHOP for the 1st time and were very impressed. This year we want to try some different places. I have bee reading Simons book with real vigor and as a result we have on our planner to try Crackerbarrel, Waffle House, Shoney's, Black Angus and Perkins. Anyone who has tried any of these and has views good or bad, most welcome.
Have a fab time where ever you decide. :cool1:

We loved Perkins for breakfast - lovely food, quick service and the waitress actually made a decent cup of tea!!!!!!!! :wizard: :Pinkbounc Also kids got given a large sugar cookie EACH to take away and eat later - they were great to keep them going round Universal and saved us stopping for lunch (younger DS hasn't got the knack of eating enough at breakfast to last until dinner :sad2: )

Favourite though was IHOP - loved the eggs Benedict (just a nice size breakfast - filling but without 3 scary big pancakes to squeeze in as well!), kids loved pancakes, DH loved everything :goodvibes

Haven't tried Cracker Barrel at breakfast, but had dinner there twice and it was very nice, a real "home-cooked" meal not all the processed stuff you get everywhere else :bounce:

My vote goes to the golden corral for brekkie!! :cool1:

I didn't discover it till late on in the hol becase i was using the usual Ponderosa/Slizzler option. The corral has got my business this year as well as IHOP/ Dennys because they are far nicer.

Cheers Matt - I've put in Golden Corral to the plans - it best live up to the high praise it's had here!! :cool1:

Also if you tell them you are from England, they will give you and your family a free piggy back to what ever park you need to be taken to.......

Seriously the Golden Corral is a great eating option..
