Where to grab QS at HS before fireworks?

The QS at HS sucks. I would rather eat outside of the park - there are better options outside. What about a snack to hold you instead? DH and I were just at HS this Monday to watch the fireworks. We got a toffee cupcake from Trolley Car Cafe and a Carrot Cake Cookie from Sweet Spells to enjoy while we sat on the concrete and waited 45 min. for the fireworks. Everyone around us looked insanely jealous, and we got a few comments to the tune of, "Wow, you're doing it right."

The new food kiosks around the lake are very good and I would eat at those locations again rather than a QS at HS. Last time we were there, they were not on the dining plan and a little pricey. However, they have some of the best food options (I believe) at HS.

Are you coming to HS in the evening specifically to see fireworks? If you're staying on property, I would suggest your resort's Food Court. I'm not too big of a fan of HS's QS

I really liked the rib dinner I had at Fairfax Fare in February, and since then they have added a menu item I am excited to try - 1lb baked potatoes with toppings!! They have one with cheese/bacon/sour cream/chives and one with beef/cheddar/gravy. A wedge salad with pulled pork and jalapeno ranch dressing is also on the menu - which I have not tried but sounds really good to me. I am partial to pork I suppose! But I think that place is a solid choice for QS at HS. It's down next to RnRC and ToT.

Enjoy your trip! :flower1:

I thought I remember reading that the kiosks at Echo Lake were only temporary until the end of summer (meaning I won't get to try them if so)? :(

With Starring Rolls (average at best) being closed at that hour the only CS left in HS that is even close to being edible and average in quality is Fairfax Fare, and even then I myself am not that excited for it either. I simply don't eat CS in this park.

The worst food experience I had was a burger at Rosie's All American Cafe before the Star Wars fireworks. I seriously regretted it. I wish I had grabbed something at Boardwalk Bakery before hand. The burger was cold, bun was stale, and a total waste of $.

Exactly the question I was going to ask. I was hoping to go to Sci fi but just don't have the time to squeeze in a TS meal given that ours is a short trip. Was planning to wait 45+ mins for the fireworks so figure this is one way to kill 2 birds with one stone.

But after some comments here, I'm considering an alternative - eat at Epcot instead! The Star Wars Fireworks on my night are at 8:15pm. So should be done around 8:30pm. I am planning to head to Epcot for Illuminations at 10pm. So..

8:15pm Star Wars Fireworks
8:30 leave DHS
9:00 arrive Epcot International Gateway
9:00 - 9:40 enjoy Food & Wine Festival booths.
9:45 Fastpass for 10pm Illuminations

The big question is - will food lineups be way too insane at 9pm on a very busy Saturday night at Food & Wine? I've never been before.

I didn't mention it to the OP but, um, for my husband and I, we need at least an hour to eat from Fairfax Fare. The half chicken is like a Purdue chicken on steroids so there's a lot there and it's served as "fresh" as it can be (using the quotes because it's not taken directly off the chicken and cooked and then served). But as far as the service being quick enough, there's only one answer to that and you will find out on the night you are doing this. No one can predict the lines at all.

You may be right. I really can't remember. I HOPE they hang around longer. They're really good.

What did you get?

Shaved Turkey and Gouda Waffle Sandwich with mixed greens, bacon, tomato and herb-cheese pesto served with chips from Hollywood Waffles of Fame

Pulled Beef Brisket Sliders with arugula, pickled onions and horseradish aioli on sesame bun served with chips at Sliders to the Stars

My DH and I shared them.

They both sound amazing! I'll be a little disappointed if they are no longer there next month.

The food trucks around the lake are gone. I'm so bummed too. I asked on another thread & apparently they closed on 8/18.
