Where to Golf?

We are traveling with another couple this October. Our friend and DH want to book a tee time. The problem is that DH is an average golfer(maybe that's being generous) and our friend actually runs a golf course and is an excellent golfer. They want to book a tee time at a course on property that they both can enjoy. Not too difficult but not too easy. DH usually golfs at Oak Trails; the 9 hole course. Any suggestions?

Where will you be staying? If you're at SSR or OKW, LBV is an excellent choice and very convenient.

Anywhere else and it's a matter of preference.

I really like Magnolia, it has the famous Mickey head bunker on the par 3 #6. The pro's play here for the PGA event (whatever it's called this year)

Osprey Ridge is my new favorite. It's a beautiful course, completely surrounded by nature (might sound strange, but all the other courses come near roads at some point.)

Check disneygolf.com for info on: prices (including dvc annual golf membership), courses, etc. You should also check your travel dates for availability. With the Children's Miracle Network tournament early November, some courses may be closed during October in preperation for the PGA event.

Last thing, don't worry about how good or not your DH is. Everyone has the right to go play and enjoy themselves. As long as he keeps moving along and doesn't slow the play down.

Go with Lake Buena Vista (LBV) or Magnolia. All four of the Disney 18 hole courses are fine. In order of difficulty, hardest to easiest -- Palm and Osprey, Magnolia, LBV. None is too easy or too difficult. LBV, the shortest of the four courses, meets the two playing levels you describe ideally because your DH won't get killed playing it and the excellent player will still like playing it. Magnolia fits the bill because it has wide fairways (which help the weaker player) and, of course, is the most well-known because it is the main (and now only) course used for the annual PGA tournament.

Thanks for the quick responses!
Those are the answers I was looking for.

DH just played in WDW for the first time - LBV and Osprey Ridge. While he enjoyed both, he preferred LBV. He had gone in with Osprey being highly suggested but ended up liking LBV better. Unfortunatley, I do not remember the reasons. He did say that neither one was too difficult or too easy. the bottom line - he really enjoyed BOTH courses and was happy to be playing in WDW.

DH also loves LBV. Some people think it's the least difficult course, some people think the fairways are tight because of all the buildings around it. My feelings about Oak Trail is that you not discount it as a place for all to play. I hesitate to call DH an excellent golfer, but his handicap is one-he golfs ALOT! Yet 20 years ago, he golfed there with DS for what was our son's first ever round of golf. Both golfers had a real good time-not too challenging that DS got frustrated, yet not so easy as to get DH bored. But if you want an 18 hole course, I'd suggest either LBV or Eagle Pines.

But if you want an 18 hole course, I'd suggest either LBV or Eagle Pines.

Eagle Pines was closed last year and is now being cleared for construction of the new Four Seasons Hotel.

I'd suggest Magnolia. I played all four a couple of weeks ago. Magnolia was the best mix of precision and power. It was also beautiful and I imagine will be even more spectacular a month before the PGA tournament.

Have fun!
