Where to go to see a doctor?

While on resort at Disney where might one go to see a doctor - a type of walk in clinic? Or go to hospital? Obviously depends on type of injury or illness - I’m thinking if something minor happens. (We do have travel insurance). I want to know ahead where to go in case a doctor is needed.

I'd google the closest hospital in Lake Buena Vista or Kissimmee - that should give you a good idea on close locations.

For something minor, I would also recommend contacting the front desk. They gave my brother recommendations when my niece spiked a fever and they found a doctor who would come to the resort. This was a few years ago, so I don't know if this is still something they do ( recommending ).

Get the info in advance of your trip about the process of the "house doctor" coming to you. I've never heard a complaint, heard the rates are reasonable and you can't beat staying in your room especially if for a child.

If minor you can go to a Walgreen's Clinic and like places, DD went there for strep test. Was great.

There is urgent care clinic outside Disney Springs. We didn't have a good experience but many have.

LAST RESORT is the hospital. We had horrific experience and they charged us thousands of dollars.

We asked at concierge desk. They helped getting us transport, it was a local walk i if I recall. even helped get pharmacy involved later and we got meds delivered.
Many years back but that POR experience has stayed with me... it made me love Disney even more.

I’ve never had to go to the doctor while at Disney, but I got a pretty bad cold one trip. Turner Drugs will deliver OTC medications if you happen to need something that doesn’t require a doctor visit.

I wanted to know the same, I asked on a previous thread. Also FYI, there is a great pharmacy Turner Drugs, that will deliver to your hotel if you need a prescription. I know because in April I developed a very bad throat infection day 2 of our 9 day trip. My own doctor called in a prescription for me to Turner and Turner delivered it to the front desk for me. It was awesome.

Great question and fortunately I've never had need of any services past WDW conveniently located first aid stations.

I know because in April I developed a very bad throat infection day 2 of our 9 day trip. My own doctor called in a prescription for me to Turner and Turner delivered it to the front desk for me. It was awesome.

We did the same thing when our son got sick. The front desk was very helpful and Turner’s was prompt and reasonable.

I hope someone can post with the name, because I don’t remember it, but there is an immediate care that will pick you up at your resort. They have most standard medication that can be filled at the immediate care, but there’s also a drug store within walking distance. Then, they’ll take you back to your resort. They also accept most insurance. I had to use them a few years back when I got a raging UTI on the first day of our trip.

We used the Nemours Children's urgent care clinic in Orlando one year when my daughter developed a staph infection on her thumb. They were lovely and treated her very well, but it took forever. We got there right when it opened, and only one child was ahead of us, and it still took two hours. I'd probably still go there if I had to, just because they were so nice and kind to her (she was only three and they had to lance her thumb, so she was less than happy at the time). We have blue shield for insurance, so it didn't cost us anything beyond our regular co-pay.

We love the medical concierge services. It cost $$$ and it is kind of silly since we have a rental car, live in a big city, and are used to going to urgent cares. But it is so nice if you do have a sick family member. You call them, they come right to your hotel room, normally they have all of the basic medicines with them so you don't have to go to a pharmacy. We go the the World often enough and have three kids ... and stuff happens :-( I think we have used the services twice - most recently July 2017.

Was it Centra Care? We used them a few years back (the Lake Buena Vista location). They picked us up at DHS and returned us to the hotel and filled the prescription. You can make an appointment online too.

We used Centra Care last year when my nephew got strep on the second day of our trip. They were fine. Picked us up at AKL. But if I had to do it over again I would either use the video chat doctor my insurance has or I would just Uber to a Walgreens clinic. My nephew was so weak from strep and the stopping at other resorts and walking to Walgreens to pick up the meds was just poor care on my part. Poor guy. The antibiotics worked right away though and we were back in the parks the next day after 24 hrs of antibiotics so he wouldn’t be contagious. We ended up renting a stroller for him the next day to keep him as isolated as possible just in case.
