This is our first trip to Disney. I have purchased the total package including Dining. :cool1: I have been on this board so much my husband just shakes his head and laughs. He tells me that I will be in withdrawal after the trip. :rotfl2: Anyway everything is getting ready to pack, I have purchased everything will should need, I think. We leave in 34 days.
Now for my question: Where do we go first?? We arrive on June 9th at 5:30pm and have ADR for Ohana's at 8:30. (Will not stress, the plane will not be delayed and we will arrive on time) On June 10th which park to go to first? Should we go to MGM for the last weekend of Star Wars or should we just go to Magic Kingdom? Help!!! :thanks: :disrocks:

It would help to know more about who is traveling? Do you have kids & how old? Are you buying Park Hoppers? Are you big Star Wars fans?

I always like to start at the MK - it's traditional with me & my 5 yo plus my husband & DS11 humor me - that said - if it was busy, we would hop over to another park after lunch!

Planning does help you get so much more from your trip - your husband will appreciate it later. And when you get back - you can aleways write a trip report (take notes!) :hippie:

I would definately go to MGM for the last of the Star Wars Weekend. We did that year for the 1st time and loved it. To see all the characters from the movies that we grew up with was great. If I knew how good it was going to be we would have went the previous day as well. Even if your not big into Star Wars, you should go just to see it all and say you did it. I really think it is worth your time. My DH and DS's love Star Tours which worked out good because that is the area where everything was-entertainment, parade, characters. :goodvibes

First of all, let me just say that I think your husband is right - you will go into withdrawal after the trip - been there! We've been 4 times in the last 4 years and I always get depressed right after we come back. That's because after so many months of planning, it seems to be over so fast. The best remedy for that, I've found, is to start planning your next trip right away! Anyway, back to your question, we always head to MGM first - that seems to be my kids' favorite park. Especially with Star Wars weekend - I think you should go there first. Have a great trip!

It will be myself, my DH and DS11 and DS6. We have park hopper tickets along with the DDP. My DS11 Loves Star Wars.

We ALWAYS start with Magic Kingdom. It's probably my 2nd favorite park, but I still have to start with that magical walk down mainstreet. It just doesn't feel like Disney unless we see the castle on the first day. Then we usually head to the right - ride the carousel, dumbo, IASW, Peter Pan, Snow White, and when it starts heating up we cool off in Philharmagic - which is my favorite attraction. :) (Can you tell we have little kids?) ;) Then we make our way over to the Jungle Cruise and Pirates, maybe Aladdin's carpets, and then Dole Whip!!!

Then we grab lunch and go to the resort when it's hot, and have a fabulous dinner somewhere either in a resort or DTD (or in the park, occasionally, but I don't find the food that captivating in MK).

So, I start with the basics, I guess - the real "Disney" feel of it all. Then we move to other parks on subsequent days.

That's a tough call, but I'd have to say Magic Kingdom first, and here is why-
This is your first trip to Disney World, and your first experience in this wonderful place. To me, I dont feel like we are in Disney until I see the castle, and I think it's only fair that your very first moment in the parks should be walking down main street and seeing the castle for the first time. It really sums up the Disney magic in that one moment.

Also, if you have a reservation at Ohana's, it will be much much much easier to just hop on the monorail from the TTC at MK and get to the Poly on the monorail line, rather than have to wait in line for a bus and make the trek from MGM to Poly and chance missing your resservation.

BTW - what part of Louisiana are you from? I'm from Baton Rouge myself.

Oh yeah, and be prepared for the Disney withdraw. It's called Post-Disney Depression.

MK this is your first trip after all. :thumbsup2

I must agree with those above who told you MK first is a must!!! I have been soooo many times and still it doesn't feel like i'm officially there until I walk down Main Street & see the Castle...I get goosebumps at the very thought of it!

Then go for MGM!!! The Magic Kingdom will BE there the next day! Star Wars Weekends won't!!

Take this from someone who is sadly arriving late on Sunday, June 11th and will miss Star Wars Weekends (with her SW loving DH and DS). Sadly, our school schedule doesn't let us get there sooner.

Whatever you choose, have fun!!
