I'm not 100% sure of what you mean, so I'll just talk and maybe I'll hit upon an answer. :)

We got lanyards through Costco Travel, and when we picked them up, they had pouches that were oriented vertically (portrait?). We were told that they were NOT rugged, and might break/split.

Later, just b/c we wanted to, we bought horizontal (landscape?) pouches to hang from our lanyards. They were, hmm, $4?

I didn't see any vertical pouches for sale...

The lanyards themselves were $5 and $6, depending on what kind you wanted (a dramatic, very wide lanyard was 6, the rest I saw were only 5), but they didn't come with pouches, only the "free" lanyard/pouch combo we got through booking with Costco (or AAA or WDTC, I believe) had the plastic included.

I'll take pictures later, in case my reply was at all helpful, but now we have to go pick up our mail from our 2 week vacay!

Bumbersho, are the plastic luggage tag looking things really lanyards? I am unfamiliar w/ lanyards and we booked through Disney Vacation. We received our package in the mail yesterday, and there were what I thought to be luggage tags. They are blue with a place to write name and address info on the back.

When you have your package, you get vouchers for a lanyard and pin, that you redeem at various pin store locations. That's what I was talking about, not the luggage tags. :)

Since we booked through costco, our lanyards (must take pictures!) had Costco Travel on them and were light blue. AAA lanyards were bright red with AAA on them, and WDTC had that on them, and I can't recall the color I saw. Our costco lanyards had pockets that could be hung from the metal loop thing at the bottom of the lanyard, to hold whatever you wanted to put in there.

I'll take pix later; DS has a cold (as do I) and is being needier than usual so I can't do it right now.

PM me with your mailing address and how many you need -- I have some leftover from a group purchase for a cruise last year. They are vertical/portrait oriented and seal closed (like a zip lock bag, along one long side).

Happy to PIF!

Alicia

Do you worry about the kids loosing them? Or do just the adults wind up wearing them? I am thinking about getting one to keep our passes handy for FP's and I am thinking about playing around with trading.

I am scared I will lose them! I perfer to lock up my hoppers in my wallet, I worry enough about losing pins when we are there!

if you are looking for something to carry tickets and that type of media around in, i highly recommend this holder.

(i hope the link works!)

I put our park hoppers (and then APs!) for our group in it, our photopass, our disney rewards card, hotel key and any fast passes we picked up.

it was AWESOME. everything stayed DRY on the water rides, it was convenient and we had no problems with it.

we actually got several comments on it from CM's throughout the week.

my SIL bought it for us on her navy base, but it looks like they sell them online.

I picked this exact holder up today at REI for $6.00 I think it will work great!

The lanyard you described is exactly the type I've been looking for since last year! I've looked all over the parks, and the CMs I've asked dont' even know what I'm talking about. I've seen people at the parks walking around with them, and I'm almost certain you're talking about the same one because I've seen the costco/aaa/wdtc ones. I haven't been able to find these at the park, or anywhere else for that matter. Can you only get them by booking a trip through one of those companies?

i couldn't find it on r:sad2: ei.com, are there REI stores on the mainland?

I just checked the REI homepage and the closest one to Disneyland is about 10 mins away according to the map provided, just go to the REI.com homepage and click on one of the top tabs where it says "stores events" from there you can search for a convient location. if you don't need it before Oct 9th I could bring you one(or a few), let me know.

When I search for stores 25 miles or less from Anaheim, I get:

Huntington Beach

Arcadia

eatntae, you're talking about the pouch hanging from the lanyard that goes around the neck? I only saw the horizontally-oriented ones for sale at the park (the one I bought has tinkerbell on it, while DH's has a pirate theme on it, LOL). Neither one of us felt that the plastic of the "free" one included with the Costco lanyard would hold up for long...the plastic was too hard, if that makes sense. Felt like it would crack, rather than flex, with any force put onto it. And the verticallness of it didn't "work" for us (though honestly it's a pain to get things out of either).

Just dug one of them out of the bags...took a major effort to get the seal open (it's at the top, on a short side), which is great for keeping things, but bad for quick needs to get things out. Also, since it came with the Costco lanyard, which has a hook thing, it on its own doesn't have anything to hook onto. And the hook on the lanyard clicks into the main lanyard, but is useless on its own.

The horizontal one that I bought opens with a little slider (and closes too), and that's quite a bit easier, though I'll admit that DH pulled too hard on mine while getting FPs, and pulled the slider off. Took me 5 minutes to get it back on, but even with that it was easier. The purchased pouches have a metal loop attached, which then hooks onto any of the lanyards sold at Disneyland (which have a metal loop but not a hooky thing). Aren't my technical terms amazing? ha ha ha.

Looking at those REI things, that's pretty cool! We got right to the end and had no more time, but if we'd known about the REI thing and that there was a store right there (I like ordering on REI.com after linking through mypoints.com and picking it up in-store after they truck it there, LOL), I'm sure we would have made an effort (and then I wouldn't have a silly little tinkerbell pouch) to get one or more!

Someone asked about kids. My guy is only 3, so he didn't carry anything important. For older kids, having been one and being the oldest of 5, I'd say you know your kids, and you know if they are likely to lose something. I'm sure that my brother, or even I, would not have lost anything (OK well I might have, but I'd realize it quickly), while any of our half-siblings would not be trusted with anything important in a lanyard/pouch.

As for pins, spent a bit extra and buy a little baggie of the locking pin backs. They still aren't foolproof, especially if you have a 3 year old being picked up and put down, who pulls on them, but they are easier to trust than the regular pin backs! They were about 8 bucks for a pack of, hmm, 10, I think? 8? They go on with a tiny allen wrench (all my Ikea furniture experience finally paid off!)

Hi there fellow kama'aina!!!

We're going next week, I wish I could go in December, but the kids have fall break next week and I can't pull them out when I want to anymore, so we're going in October. I love December with the Xmas decorations and it's coooold.

I'm still looking for lanyards!!!
