Last trip we did land/sea and DD got her hair braided on the ship. Is that done anywhere at the World. She got about 2 inches braided and beads into a headband look. The pictures are adorable and she wants to do it again.

I know many of the resorts do it. My dd got hers done at Wilderness Lodge last year.

My dd had her heart set on having her hair braided during our last trip to the World. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and they only offered a hair wrap station. We ended up making an appointment at the Ivy Trellis Salon located at the Grand Floridian (I'm pretty sure that was the name of the salon). She looked so cute and it was a great way to keep the hair out of her face on those hot summer days :cool2: . The ladies at the salon were great! I don't believe they had beads though, just colored bands.

Perwig at the beach club does hair braiding.

Did your DD just get a few braids around face or did she get cornrows on whole head? Also can I ask what something like that runs? My DD wants to have some braids put in while there. She had a few put in on Disney cruise and wants more this trip. I can't remember what we paid. I think we were charged per braid but can't remember:confused3

She had what they call half a head of braids, which gives it the headband look that you were talking about. I'm pretty sure we paid a flat fee (not per braid). If I remember right it was around $50-$55 for half a head and $100 for a full head of braids. Hope that helps!

Can someone explain in words (and with pictures, if possible) what is the difference between "hair braids" and "head wrap"? Also what the cost is for both? Are these offered at any of the parks or only the resort hotels?

How about Downtown Disney? Anyone use a local Kissimmee/Lake Buena Vista salon and get a "cheaper" version? If so, where did you go and what was the cost?

DD8 wants something done to her hair after her Boutique "hair do" falls out; I'm guessing 3 days later? She has her boutique appointment on Day 3 of our 9-day stay. Her hair is below her shoulders now and she doesn't want to cut it yet!

Great information! Thanks a lot. DD will be so happy to have this done:cloud9: Thanks again:goodvibes

PS I just noticed we're going on vacation at same time!!

Hair wraps are when they take a thin bunch/strands of hair and start at the root and wrap the hair in different colored strings, then you could put charms and whatever at the end. My youngest used to have this done every year and it would last at least a month! She would shower and wash her hair with it in. We actually stopped doing this about 2 years ago, because the teachers said it was distracting her in class and she would play with it, and put it in her mouth!:scared: So, we stopped letting her have it done. It depends what kind of braids your talking about..tiny ones all over her head or french braids. Last year my youngest had her hair french braided the day before we left for Disney, she had two braids going down toward the back of her head, it looked so cute and it lasted about 5 days, through all the showers/hair washing and swimming too! It was great, I didnt have to mess much with her hair.!

You're right! We'll be there at the same time. Where are you staying? We are at the Wilderness Lodge again. I also noticed that you are from the Chicago area. We're from around Peoria, just a couple hours south of Chicago! Hope your DD enjoys her braids :yay: !

Here are the braids my DD got on the boat (headband) I think it was called. She had a wrap once and messed with it so much it broke off on the 2nd day. This style looked good about 2 1/2 weeks.

I thinks those wraps are hard to get out too. I think a lot of kids end up getting them cut out:eek:
