Where to get good baby clothes basics?

I love, love, love dressing up my DD 4 months. I really have a weakness for several boutique brands that get a little pricey. For summer I want her to have a pair of white capris or pants, plain jean capris, and khaki shorts and/or capris. There are some adorable things at Janie and Jack but they are about $38 a pair. She is growing like crazy right now - she's currently in a 3-6 mo but I'm pretty sure she'll be in a 6-9 or 6-12 by mid-summer. I'm thinking I'll end up buying more than one pair or each so $38 a pop will add up pretty quickly. I've looked at babyGap, Children's Place, Babies R Us, and Target and just can't find anything. Everything seems to have crazy embroidery or butterflies or something on it. Any ideas?

Don't do $38 each for basics!!!!!!!!! Target is my store of choice (see tag ) but I would think that even walmart would have basics. Gap didn't have anything? I would keep checking because someone has to have something. I did see cute basic shorts at Gymboree, but they were in bigger sizes, didn't check little bitties. Babies R us used to have a cute brand that had basics too. I think it was Koala Kids.

Not a mom (yet), but I buy a lot of baby clothes for my job, and honestly I find a lot of great stuff at thrift stores. Not all thrift stores are created equal, however, but I have found a handful of clean, well-organized stores where I regularly find name-brand and designer baby clothes at super bargain prices. Last week I got 3 Gymboree outfits and 5 Baby Gap items (including a pair of plain denim capris for 9-12 mo.) among other things and I paid less than $30 for a total of 16 items.

Now, it does take patience and time to be willing to sort through the racks to find the deals, but I think it's fun, and I find some fantastic stuff for cheap. But I'll acknowledge that it isn't everyone's thing.

Buy the basics at those places, then add cute fun outfits from boutique places.

I just checked oldnavy.com and they have adorable capris for $14.50. They even have baby gauchos!!!!!! So cute-almost makes me want another baby to dress, lol!!!
