Where to get Disney dollars/ gift card?

For Christmas, I'm surprising the kids by letting them know we are going to Disney next month.

I was going to wrap up a gift with a printed Countdown calendar, some Disney shirts and wanted to include some either Disney dollars or Disney gift card.

Where do I find these?

I read on another post last week that someone bought them straight from Disney by calling them direct. They said there was something like a $15 shipping fee b/c they treat them like real money or something like that, so it costs more to send them.

unfortunately you can't get disney dollars outside of the parks anymore. if you happen to have a disney store near you, you can always pick up a gift card from the stores. otherwise you'd have to do it via the internet or by phone from the disney store.

Our Walgreens sells Disney Gift Cards. They are good at Disney Stores, online Disney store, all stores and restaurants at the parks. I think you could even pay for your hotel room with them. Same for California parks (see GC for more details).

Another poster indicated you can get them at Target (my grocery stores sell them too) and if you have a Target RedCard, you can get 5% off.

Not sure if the 5% off counts on gift cards. If you can though, that would be great!

I ordered gift cards from the disneystore online since there are so many pics to choose from.

Saw the gift cards at Target today - they were up by the electonics, thought this a little strange but there you go

I got some at Krogers and I thinks I've seen them at CVS also.

I get free fuel from Giant Eagle by buying the gift cards there.

You can call Disney and order cards ,takes about 5 days

Our local supermarket--CUB foods--even has them on the huge gift card kiosk. It's so much easier to pick these up now days

If you go to the Disneystore.com web site, you can order gift cards. The benefit is that there are LOTS of designs to choose from and you choose one with your kids' favorite characters (different characters, holidays, etc.). I did this for our December trip a couple of years ago. It is also nice because you know which gift card is for which kid (I carried the cards and both kids remember which one was theirs!). If I remember correctly, they seemed to arrive quickly. (I think that if you order today, you will still get them for Christmas.) The designs are so cute!

Oh and I just read that the Disney Dollars (different from the gift card) are available at the front desk. I may get a few of these to reward the kids for good behavior (or for bribing, lol) while we are vacationing.
I will get the hubby to sneak to front desk to get a few dollars worth. ;-)

I just got my DVC statement and wonder if I could use gift cards to pay some of the balance if I can get a 5% discount on them. Plus I have a cruise coming up, the discount would be great towards my onboard expenses.
