i'm not happy with the ones that my school is offering and i think i can get one that i'll actually like for the same amount of money.

i just want it to be either silver or white gold, ruby or other red stone in the center, school name around the stone, my name and year on one side, and our emblem on the other. i think that's pretty doable, but i don't know where to get one. tiffany doesn't make them, right? i don't think they do.. well, if they do, then please let me know lol but please let me know of any other reputable companies also!

DD attended a high school that picked 2 official rings that the girls could order. The administration there has a long tradition of having a true "class ring", one ring that all the graduates have. One was a typical high school ring similar to what you are describing and the other a more feminine fashion type ring. The material sent home only included the information on these 2 rings even though the company sells many different style rings. DD had her heart set on a "blinged" out version of the typical high school ring with diamonds mounted, channel set, across the stone in the middle. I called the Josten's rep for our area and he told us he could sell DD anything she wanted, but couldn't offer her any other choices but what the school had approved. As far as I know, she is the only girl out of 200 in her graduating class that ordered anything other than the approved class ring. Call the company rep and ask them if you can order what you want. I know that Walmart also sells class rings at a reasonable price.

Have you checked Wal-Mart? The brand that they have is Keystone. You can probably go to Wal-Mart's site to check out their rings. I worked in the jewelry department for a long time, and we had tons of styles at pretty decent prices.

Our high school always ordered through Balfour.

can i still get one from these places even if my school is working through another company? some of them have drop-downs for their school list so i've been looking at some of their offerings, but will it be a problem if i don't go to one of those schools?

Probably not. Just call and ask the rep if you can have one with your school name. There might even be small private schools that don't partner with a company for making rings, and therefor aren't in their drop down menus.

Go cheap though, they're probably only cool for the next two years. I'm glad I didn't spend money on one of those. Can't imagine how much they are now with the price of gold so high.

Have you asked the person that your school is using if you can make other choices? I didn't like the ones my school offered and just asked if they had what I wanted and they had no problem with getting me exactly what I asked for.

And it is now nearly 25 years later and I still wear my class ring every day. I have a strong connection to my school and the community I grew up in.

i got mine from a local jewelry store...it's an art carved, and it's beautiful. very delicate and feminine, with my birthstone in the center, a small diamond on each side, my school name around the center stone, and my graduation year divided on each side (19 on one side, 89 on the other) i still love that ring. i would think you could go to any jewelry store in your city/town and take a look at what they have.

I bought mine from Kay's Jewelers this was in '96 I'm not sure if they still do them or not.

I got mine from a local jewelry store. It was about half the price of the Jostens rings that were being sold through the school.

awesome! i'm incredibly attached to my school and i can't imagine not having something with me every day after graduation that represents my love for it.

i'll be sure to check out a few jewelry stores around here and call up some companies.

thanks!

My ring is from Josten's, and I wear it everyday. My little sister is getting ready to order her class ring, though, and we decided to look at the pricing on mine- it's around $100 more expensive to get the same exact ring from them now, just 3 years later!

I'd look into local jewelry stores, and places like Walmart- definitely compare prices, too.

My oldest DD's school did deal with Jostens and they had all the information in their system for her ring. My youngest DD's ring was not in their system. Their representative took all my information on the phone and they made a ring up with all that information. The price was just a little over what Wal Mart would of charged me but much better quality. Order both rings at the same time even though oldest DD has been out of high school for quite some time.

Both rings together to the best of memory came to around $160 for the two of them. They are both really nice. My DDs love them. They have a basic ring which can be made with all the information for the graduate. JMO, I still would go with Jostens.
