Where to find long sweatshirt to wear w/leggings?

Once again, I'm turning to the people I know will have all the answers (or at least some suggestions!) about where to find a long sweatshirt that will cover my rear when I wear leggings. I don't want anything fancy, like sweaters, just a nice long cute sweatshirt that is very casual. I've looked on Old Navy's website and didn't see much, but I will probably also check in the store.

Any suggestions? TIA!

This one is a hoodie.

However, I would also say that this is one of those looks that not everyone can pull off; you don't want to look like you are trying too hard to be younger than you really are, lest you bring this to mind:

(If you don't recognize it, that is the cover of the first album I ever owned. It came out in 1966.)

This is popular "college girl" style.

The best place to find this sort of sweatshirt would be at an athletic apparel store (there are many for college teams, with Greek letters, etc.) and probably Target or Walmart.

In order to get it to go over your rear, you're probably going to want to order a size up than what you wear in fitted clothes (it's popular to wear it kind of baggy where I live - like a boyfriend style).

How old are you? If you are over college age don't do it!

Personally I don't think leggings are pants, and a little mini skirt between the top and the leggings looks a lot cuter.

Second make sure you have a mirror you can see what you look like from behind.

Last yr I would wait in the lobby of my DD's dorm for her to come in and see all these girls coming in and out in the leggings and sweat shirts and most just looked like they forgot their pants and others were not very flattering from the rear.

This is only IMO

Leggings are pants here, but only when you have something on the top that goes to your thighs. When you wear leggings with just a tank-top that stops at the mid-section, then you are in trouble.

Most moms wear leggings and long tunics or sweatshirts here out on errands.

I have several pairs of leggings that would look awful under a mini skirt. The key to leggings (on most other clothes) is you can't buy the cheap thin ones. The ones I have are from Landsend and Loft and they are of thicker quality and in no way meant for wearing under a skirt. The cheap, thin ones are the ones meant to be worn under skirts and should really be called footless tights.

To the OP question try Landsend and I believe I saw a few at GapBody.

Same here. I would never wear a mini skirt with leggins. My 9 yo wears stuff like that in the winter.

I have bought long sweatshirts at Macy's , Gap, Aero and for dressier stuff White House Black Market and Cache.

My first thought was, "In the 90's".

I used to love me my leggings, when I was younger. I'm not fat by any means, now, but now I prefer everything looser-- and so I've moved on to sweatpants.

And now I am having flashbacks to those women in WalMart, wearing the nude leggings. Whatever you do, even if you have the longest sweatshirt in the world, do NOT buy nude leggings. Thank you. ;)

In the 80's, it was leggings, sweatshirts, scrunch socks and keds.

Now, it is leggings, long sweater, boots (flats)

I would search tunic length to make sure it covers the butt and upper thigh.

Remember: if you put the sweats in the dryer, they shrink UPward and get wide. (It's the way sweats are woven.) So you may end up with a baggy, too short sweatshirt to cover your bum. As much as you may want the convenience of wash, toss in the dryer & wear, resist that urge and hang to dry.

Haha, it's amazing the opinions you can get from a simple question on the Dis, but I've been around here long enough to expect that :)

I have black leggings that I would like to wear either rainboots or Uggs with and a long sweatshirt that goes to mid-thigh, but doesn't look too frumpy. I've seen some nice ones on the Aerie website, unfortunately the closest Aerie store to me is a good hour away, and I'd like to wear this to a couple high school football games this weekend. Maybe I'll check Old Navy, Gap, American Eagle, Target. I would never wear leggings with a short top, I am way too hippy for that!

Oh and I'm a young 31 years old. :thumbsup2

Macy's sells long sweaters, some of which are very simple. I have never seen a long enough sweatshirt for what you want there, but we might consider sweatshirts to be different things. You may also want to check the men's department. Men's shirts tend to be longer without be wider.

Yea, a mini-skirt over leggings just looks really baaaaaad! I do think that a long sweater and leggings is my about favorite thing to wear.

In that case my last post probably won't help much. Macy's doesn't have anything like that right now, and the men's department wouldn't work either. It looks like something that a store that caters more to youth would have. Honestly, I would try the mall if you have time. Just print off the image of what you're looking for so the employees of the stores can better help.

Do you have a Sears near you? If so check out the Landsend Starfish collection. I bought a sweat shirt type tunic from there last season and it is so comfy.

Yes! We have a Sears in our mall so I can hit up Sears and a bunch of other stores hopefully tonight! Thanks!

When I lived up north I lived in my leggings and long sweaters. Even though they ended up being big all over, I'd usually buy men's sweatshirts which usually came down to at least mid thigh.

What's so funny is that it wasn't long ago that people were talking about how bad the legging trend was. Fashions do always seem to come back around, don't they?:lmao:
