We are staying at Boardwalk Villas (3 kids (boys), 4 adults). Right now I have a 8a ADR for 1900 Park Fare, but getting everyone on a bus around 7a to go to MK and then GF seems like so much work.

So is Cape May breakfast a good choice since its just a walk away? Plus it's characters...

Should I skip TS breakfast and eat in room and do Garden Grill for dinner? How's that character meal?

Haven't eaten at these three restaurants so not sure which is best...since I have boys the Alice and Wonderland isn't too exciting for them, but I know a few people who love their breakfast. Seems Cape May gets rave reviews for breakfast also.

Btw, we'll be there in Aug so plan on leaving mid day to swim and relax, so we'd be back to do a few countries and dinner and back to room, then dh and I will do EMH and drink our way around the world :) I'd like to be able to eat and get to Epcot as early as possible, rope drop not necessary, just within the 9-930a range.

I'd bring or order Breakfast foods for DS's....

Get a Teppan Edo lunch ressie....

I'm with you on this one. Cape May for breakfast or Garden Grill for dinner would be my choice for an Epcot day. Even if you do manage to get everyone to Park Fare for that 8:00 ADR, you'll probably not be back to Epcot until around 10:00 or so.

Look at the characters each of the other two have as well as the menus and decide which one appeals more to you and your boys.

I thought about that, but my dad was a Hibatchi chef till I turned 26y, do I've gotten more than my fill of tepanyaki cooking. I also though about le Cellier for lunch, but we aren't character chasers and prefer to see them at meals. Though...we are doing chef mickeys dinner the next day, so that gets all the 'big' characters out of the way...

Which has better food? Cape May breakfast or Garden Grill?? I hate making food decisions!

I've never been to Garden Grill, but we did have breakfast at Cape May on our last trip & it was good. I'm not a breakfast fan, but the rest of the family loved it. And the characters were great. Best of all, afterwards you just have a quick walk or boat ride to Epcot :)

As for dinner, we really loved Le Cellier though I love it more for lunch when it only costs 1 credit on the dining plan. The only other meal we had in Epcot was Teppan Edo which we didn't really enjoy. On our next trip we are spending 2 days in Epcot & hope to eat at least 4 other restaurants there. So excited :woohoo:

Cape may breakfast is very good! Lots of choices. Then you can just walk to Epcot after.

I prefer dinner to breakfast.
Garden Grill gets great reviews for the character interaction. Did you look at the menu here on the DIS or at allears.net? It is all you care to eat, family style meal - no real menu. If the food appeals to you, I would go there.
Have Fun!!

1900 Park Fare is nice, but given your Resort location and your plan for the day, I wouldn't make the trip.

We've been to both Cape May breakfast and Garden Grill dinner and have enjoyed them both. Do as the PP says and look at the menus for both and then decide which food you and your boys will like best. If we had to choose between the two we would choose GG because we prefer dinners over breakfast. We prefer breakfast in the room, or a bakery item we pick up and eat as we go.

A couple more pluses for Garden Grill is the rotating room - our kids thought this was very cool! Also, you will see chip and dale there and they won't be at Chef Mickey's. I think all the characters at Cape May will be at Chef Mickey's also. We have always had a lot of fun at Garden Grill with the characters. The chipmunks and pluto have always been very playful and we usually end up with a silly mickey as well. I think we have been four or five times since 2003.

That being said, we did enjoy our breakfast at Cape May. Both are great choices so rest assured whichever one you choose will be fine! Have a fun trip!

I would choose Cape May breakfast. The food is good and they have a big variety. It's a must do for us every trip:)

I like Cape May for either b'fast or dinner, but would call a taxi if someone in your party really wants 1900 Park Fare.

Have fun.

:)

i think i may do Garden Grill, thanks Celestia, I think my boys will love the rotating room and the chipmunks :) we are doing Cape May dinner the first night we are there, so it's not like we are missing out on the who resturant all together.

We are looking at the same thing for our upcoming trip, though we are staying at the BCV. Our plan is to eat super early at Cape May with the characters (this is the only character meal we haven't been to) and then hit the latest reservation at the Garden Grill.
We love the Garden Grill. The food tastes fresh, the characters come around regularly, the restaurant turns slowly (I put on a patch for this).

We are not character chasers either and so hitting as many Character meals as we can is always a point in our favor.

we were at BCV, but i JUST changed the res because of a pin (we are paying cash, not DVC) i received and was able to get a whole extra day for $70 if i changed to BWV. i REALLY REALLY wanted to stay at BCV, but an extra night for under $100 was way worth the change. Hard decision though!

is Cape May breakfast & Garden Grill better than Chef Mickey's dinner? I have Chef Mickey's dinner when we are at MK, maybe i'll change that ADR to Cape May Breakfast, between Cape May and Garden Grill i'll see all of Mickey and friends, right? hm. i don't need to be at MK at rope drop, and i can catch bus from BC to MK...
