My DH and I will be going back to WDW without our DS and we would love to eat in Japan. We don't like Sush. But we have a Japanese restaurant by our house and they have soup, salad, appetizer, entree with veggies, rice, tea and dessert!! (All of this for only $18.99 - gotta love that.) What would you suggest. I want to have a cooking table and wasn't sure what was best. Thanks!!!

Teppan Edo is the other TS resturant in Japan. It is much like a Benihana, but the food was great as was the 'show' you get.

We ate at Teppan Edo on 8/14/08. The food was good but the cook was not that great. She kept dropping things and was very sloppy. We did not have reservations, called that am to see if they had any openings- they did not, we asked when we got there (7:00 pm) and they had plenty of openings (guess this was from no shows). Based on the cost vs the presentation, it was not worth it.

The chef makes all the difference. Some are much better than others. On our last visit we watched the chef at the next table burn the food. She had a very hard time scraping the grill after she was done. I felt very bad for that group of diners.
If you find a chef that you like, you can request that chef if he/she is working that day. They periodically try to replace the chefs with young Japanese women. In most cases the food quality really suffers when you get one of these young women. The food burner was one of these.
Our preferred chef is Tom. Other good choices are Akira and Soari.
