Just found out yesterday I am going to DL for the first time in 30 years in 3 weeks. On Friday night we are going to visit the Downtown Disney area and try and get the lay of the land. Any recommentations on where to eat? We are eating at Blue Bayou on Sunday, so I prefer not the Cajun restaurant. I also wanted to stay away from ESPN as we eat there all the time in Florida. It can be counter service or sit downs. Can anyone recommend something good and let me know if I need to make a reseration?

Thanks!

The Naples restaurant is a great pizza restaurant. They have other pasta dishes but we just ended up doing the pizza. It was really good :thumbsup2

Depending on what you want to spend, DTD and the resort hotels have great dining options. If we are in a hurry, or on a budget we usually choose the tortilla jo's side kitchen taqueria, really yummy nachos, burritos, tacos. If we want something on the nicer side, and a sit down, we usually do Jazz Kitchen (however the style and type of food is similar to Blue Bayou, so you might want to pass). Going all out to eat would be at Napa Rose in the Grand Californian, pricey, but worth the money for an amazing experience. Disineyland Hotel has steakhouse 55 which has great service and food, Trader Sam's (the restaurant part, can't remember if this is the name of the bar or restaurant) near the pool is cute quick service burgers etc. I am not much of a picky eater, so I am usually happy eating anywhere at the Disneyland Resort... Whichever you choose I am sure you will have a blast. popcorn:: Don't forget the beignets from the Jazz kitchen side kitchen for dessert!

Earl of Sandwich is great for a quick bite. We are regulars at RFC both at Disney and elsewhere...it's a fun place, but there is ALWAYS a huge wait (unless you are a Landry Select member, as we are, and then the wait is typically only 20 minutes or so). We just got back from DLR and enjoyed several evening meals at the Storytellers Cafe at the Grand Californian...walked right in with no reservation and was seated almost immediately. One night we ordered off the menu, and the second night we all opted for the buffet...we enjoyed both, although I will tell you the Anaheim peppers in the Quesadilla I had were HOT (and I'm from Texas haha). The Nebraska Corn Chowder my DD had was to die for...soooo good. The beef carved at the buffet was a little chewy, but still good...the bread pudding was excellent, as were the other buffet desserts. Their mashed potatoes are also very, very good.

HTH!

How much was the buffet at Storytellers? That looked kind of interesting.

Love EOS, but again we eat in Florida pretty frequently, so kind of want something different.

Thanks everyone else for suggestions pizza and mexican are always good options and I will make sure to have a beginet as I have not had once since we were in New Orleans 10 years ago.

Also if anyone in your party has a birthday close to your dates, sign up for the Patina group birthday club (free) and they will email a $30 off coupon that can be used at Tortilla Joe's which is very good Mexican food. We also love Rainforest Cafe and kids love Goofy's kitchen in the DLH.

We like the Uva Winebar in the center of DTD. Catal is also very tasty (both are attached with Catal more formal and more expensive).

We usually end up at Tortilla Joe's, always happy with it. House of Blues is pretty mediocre food for the price, we think.

If you want a bit of a Disney experience I would definitely go for the dinner buffet at Storytellers! It's very good and includes fabulous desserts! If you have kids in your party, they can get 'make your own pizza' where they literally make their own... they get the ingredients and make the pizza, then the server takes it away for baking and then it comes back.

If you want something more quick and casual, you can't go wrong with Earl of Sandwich.

Trader Sams at the Disneyland Hotel. Great drinks and eats...love the atmosphere.
