Where to Eat for Kidless Meal

We went to Le Cellier for our kidless date night. Not particularly "fancy" but we had a great meal and the PLAN was to walk around WS (EMH), see Illuminations, maybe walk over to the boardwalk for a bit. Sadly, the pouring rain & freezing temps last Friday made that not work so well ... but we still had a yummy dinner!

I think my title has been a little misleading to some. We aren't looking for a restaurant without children, just a nice romantic evening without our children!!!

So far Jiko looks like a good possibility. With two small children under 5, most of our dining experiences will need to be basic, typical CS type meals. I like that Jiko has unique food.

I was originally thinking we would eat at California Grill since we are from California, but moved to the south a few years ago. We miss the California cuisine, but the reviews for California Grill were not favorable to the atmosphere. It's seems to be a very noisy place.

Does anyone know how Jiko's sound level compares to California Grill?

Chance are pretty good that Jiko will be quieter than CG but it will always depend on the group dining there on any given night. For those places on the dining plan, on an average, we feel that Atist Point is usually the quietest followed by Jiko, Citricos and Yachtsman.

I think I figured it out when she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer 5+ years ago now (hurray she made it).

When we are at WDW, we just don't think about anything else. We are just happy. We went twice while she was having treatments. I think it helped her beat it.

It's also why I have a picture of Me and Minnie on my work name tag instead of just a business photo. It was from our first trip back to WDW after she got her hair back. It was a very VERY happy time. I want to remember it.

I went to Shula's this week and it was fabulous for just dh and me.

We put the kids in the kids' club at BC. I figured for the $100 we were paying to have them there (for five hours), I wanted a quiet and nice meal.

The meal was wonderful. Loved it. Unfortunately, a family of 3 was seated next to us and once they sat down, they pulled out their dd's DVD player and let her watch a Disney movie on DVD for the entire meal. With NO headphones. I guess they didn't think other couples there would mind hearing their movie. I did ask them to turn it down (nicely) and they did, for a few minutes. There is already Sinatra playing in the restaurant, so between that and the Disney movie at close to full volume, it was really hard to have a conversation. Some people just don't think of others I think. (that's a whole other thread though, LOL)

Other than that, I think Shula's is a nice place for a kidless meal, but beware...there is kidless as in no kids there and kidless as in "we'll ignore the kids by letting them watch TV loudly". LOL

We put our boys in the Cubs Den once a week when we're in Disney and we love to have a dinner out "by ourselves".

We love either Le Cellier or Yachtsman Steakhouse.

If you like italian food, try Il Mulino, as recommended above. Great atmosphere along with excellent food and stellar service, which all combine to make the meal feel like a special event.

Whoa! That is SO bad. And I was frustrated last year b/c we went to CG for a 9:40 ADR for our 15th anniversary and I had to sit next to a 6 yo boy! (Our kids were with Kids Nite Out for $100, too.)

I don't think the OP meant that the restaurant had to be kidless. Just that she & her husband were going to be kidless!

My suggestions would be Narcoosee's or California Grill. Superb food and incredible views!!

We did the same sort of thing, but hired a babysitter, we loved loved loved Californian Grill. Especially the sushi. We had reservations for 8 and while there were children there, they all seemed to very well behaved and I didn't notice it being noisy. (but hey I hang around with my 2 and 3 year old boys everyday..... nothing can be as noisy as that )

Have a good time, very jealous, I am hoping to get a night out with the hubby over the Christmas period as we are going to visit family and I can ask them to watch the kids, selection of places to eat not as exciting though.

The OP did say they were looking for a quiet dinner (they didn't want a noisy restaurant). The more families with young children in the restaurant, the noisier it will be. The more large groups, the noisier it will be. Some restaurants have usual higher levels of noise than others, with others it will be the luck of the draw.

Victoria & Albert's, Bistro de Paris or Shula's. We've have yet to experience crowds from a convention at Shula's.
