DH and I are planning a quick 4-night trip this fall without the kiddos. We talked about doing the dining package but DH thinks we can eat cheaper than that. I'm not so sure, but I have awhile to plan that part. My first question is can I book room only now, then change to a package and add the dining plan leter on?

Also, where would you recommend eating? We'd like one sit-down meal each day, and we will be visiting all 4 parks, and could also use countere service recommendations, as the only c/s we ate last fall was at our resort and I don't remember much about our 1997 trip. On our last trip, we did 7 character meals. We liked most of them, but DH thinks they're only for people with kids  and I can't convince him otherwise. I would like to do at least one character meal though. I'm not interested in Jiko or Boma, DH didn't like the idea of a dinner show and just shrugged his shoulders at O'hana, which I thought he'd like.

Any suggestions welcome!

Steph

we have enjoyed donald's breakfastasarous in AK several times; it is just my husband and me. it is a buffet, but you can have made to order omelettes. what about artist point at wilderness lodge for dinner on evening? very nice. in the parks, hollywood brown derby at MGM, the plaza restaurant in MK and Tusker House in AK are excellent. tusker house is really an "upscale" counter service. of course just about any restaurant in world showcase is good. yachtsman steakhouse at the yacht club would be a good choice. big river grill and brewry on the boardwalk is very good. we have had lunch there several times. these are just a few that we have enjoyed. have you looked at the menus on deb's site? www.allearsnet.com hope this helps! :teleport: :earboy2:

I'll second the Tusker House at AK. Since there are no full service dining options actually inside the park, Tusker is our favorite at AK. We like the wrap sandwich with corn chowder soup.

We don't do character meals, so at MK we do Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch (evening is a character meal here). I've never had a bad meal there, and they have a failry comprehensive menu.

In world showcase our favorite is Chefs du France, but Le Cellier-Canada, Akershus-Norway (which is soon to be all character dining :( ), and Marrakesh-Morocco, are all very good.

For the Studios, we prefer Brown Derby or 50s Prime Time.

When it is just DH and I (kids are at the Sandcastle club at BC), we have enjoyed:
Narcoosee's at Grand Floridian, ask for a table by the window. Narcoosee's overlooks the lake and you can see the castle at MK change colors (very cool).
Yahtsmen Steakhouse at Yaht and Beach Club, very good food and service.
LeCellier, in Epcot - Canada, great steaks and atmosphere.
Portobello's in Downtown Disney, always excellent, a must go every trip.
