Where to Eat for a Good Crabcake

I have had good crab cake appetizers at Kona Cafe and Flying Fish. I don't recall seeing any entrees that feature crabcakes on any of the menus. :(

Maybe someone else can provide more input?

Anyplace in Maryland--;)

Alas, I don't believe you can find that traditional crabcake anywhere at WDW. I think some spots have crabcakes (Fultons?), but even tho "tasty", you won't mistake them for the real thing.

There is excellent crabcake at Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom on the lunch menu (appetizer section). It is delicious...actually the whole lunch menu is wonderful.

Hate to tell you this...but there are no decent crabcakes in Florida in my humble opinion. I'm a life long resident of MD's Eastern Shore who also happened to spend A LOT of time in Florida over the past 15 or so years - both the Ft. Walton/Destin Beach area and the Mt. Dora area....I've tried a lot of them, they always get it wrong. That said - I have not tried any in WDW.... Godd Luck!

Flying Fish crab cakes are excellent, bot bready at all.

:p Best crabcakes I have found are at captain jacks at the marketplace. Back before they made a number of changes at captain jacks {before they took the retail store out} they had an excellent choice of crabcakes. Since the renovation, they also shortened the menu and only havr one type of crabcake, but it's still the best we've found on property:Pinkbounc lamcci: come on over to the west coast of florida for a great crabcake. The Issac Walton lodge in Yankeetown off of route 19 in Levy county. The absoulutley best cakes that I have ever tasted. If you have been to Mt.Dora, you shoiuld have an idea where Yankeetown is. Try it!, You'll like it!:smooth:

There is nothing like a real Maryland crabcake. While I love LTT I must say that was the worst crabcake I have EVER tasted in my life. ( Sorry to disagree with Webray.) Good luck with trying to find one. Let us know what you find that is good!

I agree MD does have the best but at WDW Cap'n Jack will have to do

I love the crab cakes at Fulton's but I guess I don't know what a "real" crab cake taste like LOL....sorry Uncleromulus, I still feel like they are "real", it might not be Maryland style, but they are real and very good. Guess we just have to chalk this one up to different taste for different folks.

The crabcakes at Kona were very good:lots of crab and light on filler. We really enjoyed these.

The crab cakes at Kona Cafe were very good but my vote goes to the Flying Fish.....best I have ever had!! I cannot eat there without having them!!

Best Crabcakes?

Hmmmm ....Angelina's on Harford Road (B'More, MD - hon)

A good crabcake has lump (big chunks) meat in it. If any disney restuarants have lump meat no-filler crabcakes then you have hit the jackpot. by the way .... Captains galley in Crisfield Md have the best crabcakes.

And therein lies the problem--they DON'T have jumbo lump or backfin crabmeat, and that slight hint of Old Bay is also missing.
I doubt WDW would ever be able to offer these, since the cost of the crabmeat would be prohibitive.

Spoisal-Angelina's stll has good Crabcakes--but I've now been won over by Michael's on York Rd. in Cockeysville.

Michaels, eh? I've been to the bar there a dozen times (in my younger years) but haven't eaten there yet ....i'll have to check it out. Gibbys on Padonia Road isn't 1/2 bad either!! Darn, this is making me hungry - guess what i'll be having for lunch!!

I feel compelled to chime in again....Crab Claw in St. Michaels, Grannary in Georgetown (Eastern Shore Georgetown) and Kitty Knight House in Galena, MD........Now I may just have to change my lunch plans today!

:D :( Good point Uncleromulus, they will probably never have the proper type of crabmeat at WDW, mainly because of the expense. When Wilderness lodge first opened, and maybe for a year or so afterword, they served a fantastic crab fillet dish. Never saw such huge hunks of crab. This was at artists point. We went back there a while later and they no longer had it on the menu. We asked our waiter what happened to it and he told us that the cost of the crab became so expensive that Disney would not be able to offer it at a cost that guests would be willing to pay. Now, even though that was not a crabcake, it was the best crab dish in property:( Ahaa, the old days...:D
