Hi,

Can anyone recommend a place to eat a birthday meal for a 2 year old girl? Both with and without characters :cutie:

She's never been to Disney before so I don't know how she will be with characters. So would it be ok to book an ADR for somewhere both with and without characters and choose once we know how she reacts?

Thanks for any advice you have
Janet

We really liked everything about the Crystal Palace. We've been for both dinner and breakfast, and the food is good at both meals. Add to it, we LOVE the characters there! We're huge Pooh and friends fans in our house - especially Eeyore! We also really like the inside of the restaurant - it's just pretty. Both of my children (1 and 3) love eating there! It's one that we will definitely go to every trip. Have fun!!

The Crystal Palace might be a good choice because it has Winne The Pooh characters there. Unfortunately when my DD was that age we ate there and she freaked out everytime a character came to the table but that doesn't mean yours will. Other recommendations would be Asherkerus in Norway (don't know if I spelled that right) but it is all with the princesses so you don't have to really worry about her freaking out because they don't wear masks, etc. At Coral Reef she could watch the fishes swimming by. The kids really like that, I know my DD did! Also Sci Fi might be good because of the big drive in screen where they play old clips of sci fi movies, It might be a good distraction for her. If she is into the shows for the little ones on the Disney channel I know Hollywood and Vine in Hollywood Studios offers dining with the Little Einsteins, etc. Also 1900 Park Fare for dinner has mostly characters that don't wear face masks I think too. Those are a few I thought of. Hope this helps!

And if she's not into the characters, you might like The Plaza or Tony's Town Square (in MK) - both had good kid-friendly meals that mine seemed to enjoy. If she's into dinosaurs at all, T-Rex is awesome! DS (1) LOVED it! It is kind of loud, and the dinos are big, so she may not like that, but it was pretty cool! It took a while for my 2 to get interested in the characters, but they seem to like seeing them now.

Breakfast at Hollywood and Vine would be good for a 2 year old as well. I don't know anything about their lunch or dinner, but breakfast there is great! It has Leo and June from Little Einsteins and JoJo and Goliath. They do a lot of dancing and singing as well, so it's a lot of fun!

We are going in February to celebrate my son's 2nd birthday! We are planning in Chef Mickey's for breakfast, Coral Reef (I think he will love watching the fish!), Toy Story Pizza Planet and Liberty Tree Tavern. I am also thinking of The Crystal Palace because my son loves Tigger and Pooh!

Thank you everyone for all the great ideas :thumbsup2

We are planning our holiday for 2011, so DD hasn't even had her first birthday yet, so we don't know what/who she will be into by the time she is two lol. We went to Chef Mickey's for DS's 3rd birthday (we weren't that impressed) and the Playhouse lunch for his 4th birthday (we loved it). So that is definitely on the short list. I love the idea of a Winnie the Pooh character meal too, as most 2 year olds seem to like Pooh and friends. One of our older two was very frightened of characters when she was small so we are very aware that DD could just freak at the sight of the giant furry creatures!! So I'll definitely look into the non character options mentioned too.

Thank you again for all your help

Great thread. Our DS will be 22 mo when we go next November so hearing some of these ideas sound great! I'm thinking we may have to do the Hollywood Vine breakfast!

We were there the first week in Dec. We went to chef mickeys, 1900 park etc, norway lunch.
DD loves all the characters and princesses, however, the place she loved the most and had the best time at is Teppan Edo. She loved eating with chopsticks and she loved the whole hibachi thing!! 32 mos old. She still talks about it. We were so surprised. We did her bday at norway princess lunch and they did not make a big thing out of it. I think at teppan edo in japan they give a hat and make it fun too. One of the waiters made her a bird origami which she stillhas.
