Where to eat dinner in AK during PM EMH?

Since AK always closes early and there is really no where to eat a TS dinner there, what does everyone suggest my family do since we are more than likely going to stay for the PM EMH and need somewhere to eat dinner while there? We really dont want to leave the park just for dinner since we wont have a car, do any of the restaurants have dinner? Oh, and well be on the dining plan using a TS credit for dinner.

Thanks!
Renee

pizzafari and flame tree might be open. I think that Rainforest would be a little crowded...

I believe that you can make same day ressies for Rain Forest. If I were you I would make a reservation for when the park opens for when you want to eat. The park is small enough that it would not be that bad a walk to and from. It has the best food in the park IMO.

Another suggestion might be to get an after parks reservation at Boma's at the AKL and take the bus over there after the park closes. The only problem is then you have to take at least two buses to get from there (unless you are staying there) back to your resort.

Another option is to eat at your resort after you leave the parks. Even with extended hours AK will only be open until 7-8 anyway. Not too late for a dinner??

Hope it all works out for you! :sunny:

I've been to 2 of the evening EMH at AK, both times it was until 8:00. Both Pizzafari and Flame Tree BBQ were open until 7:00. Tusker House was closed.

I know you do not have a car, but if I may make a suggestion...since EMH is over fairly early, make a ressie at Boma and take the bus to AKL (this is a very quick trip) and then pay for a taxi back to your resort. Boma is worth the extra time and money.

Does Rainforest Cafe participate in the dining plan?

Or can I trade in my TS credits for CS meals at either pizzafari or flame tree bbq?

I would love to eat at Boma but after reading the menu it is not for my family of extremely unadventurous eaters...

Thanks for the suggestions. Keep em coming!

I know you mentioned not leaving AK park but since it is closed anyhow.... what about going over to Boardwalk for Spoodles? It looks fairly close- I think that we will be doing this ourselves in Dec.

Renee, I did not understand that you were on the DP. Rainforest Cafe is not on the plan so unless you want to pay OP that option is out.

I love Boma's and have found that they have a lot of 'regular' food and the few things that are exotic sounding are not really scary at all. They have prime rib and chicken as well as a children's bar and it is a great time to try new things while on the DP. :thumbsup2

Might we ask which resort you are staying at as that might give us some more options for you?

Last year my husband and I had dinner at Rainforest Cafe after EMH at AK. the only people who will be eating in the restaurant will be the limited number of EMH guests, and most of those guests will have eaten elsewhere. We had no problem walking right in to Rainforest Cafe (we were just a party of two, I assume it might be harder for a family of more than four). It was an amazing meal. It is not on the dining plan, but if you pay for it OOP you can go to a signiture place, or perhaps enjoy a TS lunch or dinner. My other idea would be to make a later ADR at another place, maybe a resort resturant. I have a 9:20 ADR at Cali Grill to follow EMH at AK. Now all I have to do is fugure out how I am going to get dressed up and to CR in time.... I might have to rethink that...

Good luck!

Renee, you could also take a bus back to Riverside (POR twin resort) and eat dinner at Boatwright's. Afterward you could drop into the lounge (next door) to listen to the piano player and let your meal digest before your short walk back to POR.

The lounge has a bigger area outside the bar area where children would be comfortable.

Whatever you decide, you will have a great time!! :cheer2:

I found AK to be very lacking in restaurant choices on the DDP. Donalds Breakfast in A.M. and thats it other than C.S. and the menus were not really our style. We too want to go on an EMH evening day as there is so much we want to do. Where to eat is a problem for us too.
