Where to eat dinner before MNSSHP?

Was wondering what people usually do for dinner before MNSSHP? Last year, we didn't eat dinner at MK before the party started, but want to try it this year.

Also, what's the timing for dinner before the party starts? I can't remember what time the party starts - is it 7:00? Do most people do TS meals at around 5:00 or 5:30? Can you stay in the park until the party starts?

Suggestions? Thanks for your input.

Last year we ate a late lunch at resort and then just arrived at park around 6 pm. But by 9:30 my DS was hungry so we ate CS in park.

This year hoping for two parties during trip. Decided on a big meal and for timing to be in the park. Booked 4:20 at LTT one night and 4:30 at CP the other night. We are not going to park that day, and the CM told us we can go in at 4 pm with our ticket so these were the first ADRs we could get after that.

No more stopping during party to eat ! Only partying :woohoo:

When doing MNSSHP, we have dined at Liberty Tree Tavern, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's, Ohana's and 1900 Park Fare. We usually take the first dinner seating or if there is a very late lunch seating so that we are done and into the park in plenty of the time for the party to start. pirate:

In both 2005 and 2006 we ate at Cosmic Rays around 6:00 p.m. It worked out great for us and we intend to eat there again this year. For us, we do not want a full, heavy meal and the counter services choices there not limited.

We have done ADRs at CP the last two years, and we are doing it again this year! We have ADRs at 4 pm...that way we take our time and relax. The only priblem is we eat our money's worth at CP and then we kind of ROLL outta there!

Also, while dining at CP, we got our wristmands for MNSSHP from the manager, which was convenient.

Thanks for warning, we will make sure our costumes have elastic :thumbsup2

We decided this route this year so we could eat slow and relax because we were there. We found the early meal before coming led the the CS later on, which wasted party time. We ate at Cosmic Rays, and maybe because it was 9:30, the counters were not all open.

Is it a pain to eat dinner elsewhere, like Chef Mickey's? We've never done MNSSHP before but plan to try it this year and we've not yet tried CM's.

For us it was rather easy. We ate, then got on the monorail and walked right into the MK for the party. In fact, when LTT and CP are full on our MNSSHP night, we try to get something on the monorail route. :cheer2:

Do the characters at CP dress in costumes for the party? We did LTT last year and really enjoyed the characters in their costumes. When I tried to get back in there for our trip this year, I was told it was full. I booked Tony's but am rethinking to O'hana (The only non-character meal we are repeating).

I have an 8:05 AM seating at CP on a different day (love the photo ops), but I might consider it for dinner if characters are in costume.

Thanks for the info!!!

I just put in my ressie for LTT@ 5:35. I hope that leaves enough time.

That's perfect if you'd like to finish your meal around 6:45p. I think its perfect.

No, they do not dress up at CP. Only LTT thus the popularity of LTT party nights.

OP, I've eaten sit down meal before the parties every single time; that is what we prefer to do. I've done Chef Mickey's, the Castle, LTT, CP and Tony's. We prefer CP and Tony's and would do them again. We also prefer eating in the park, rather than outside the park.

We usually make our ADR time between 5:00p and 5:45p.

I only wished that they dressed up at CP, but no. No matter what, we have fun, because we are always in costume and the CM's and characters really seem to play off that...regardless of where we eat. But-at LTT it IS more fun if you can get ressies there-in the past few years its been getting rough to get them on MNSSHP nights. pirate:

I have an ADR at Chef Mickey's before MNSSHP 9/21. Originally, I was going to book CP, but we're traveling with my parents and if they are tired that day and don't want to do the party, they can still have dinner with us and then go back to Pop. We'll be at AK earlier in the day and we're not getting park hoppers. I'm counting on the party not selling out beforehand though.;)

On the DP, we made it a double CS day (Cosmic Ray's has that nice rotiss. chicken meal) and used the extra TS credit for Charactar lunch last day before we caught our flight.

Depending on whether you're just using the MNSSHP tix to gain entrance (in lieu of using a MYW tix) it's a nice way to maximize your park time.

We are doing 2:40 at Whispering Canyon, that will break up our day enough and give us plenty of time to get into the park around 4ish.
