We're going for the first time to the Very Merry Mickey X-mas party on 12/2 - last January we went to the Pirates & Princess party and had a seating for dinner at Cinderella's Castle for 5:30 ...it was outstanding...I ate there once before a couple of years back and didn't like it very much, but I must say the service was great -- everyone got a wand or a sword ...fairy godmother flitted about with her mice....and then we got to see the fireworks as the park closed at 7ish right before the P&P started - really outstanding. That being said, I dont' want to do the same thing again for the X-mas party -- we are staying at the WL - never been there before....we've eaten at Crystal Palace in MK, we've eaten at Tony's (it's okay)...and we are having Thanksgiving dinner at the place in the MK that I can't think of the name of since I have 3 kids and forget where I am sometimes. That being said....not to be picky but where could we go before -- do a monorail dinner -- been to Ohanas - love it; Chef Mickeys - very cute love that too..... what else is there????

I guess I've been to too many of the restaurants already!!! What is everyone else doing (not to copy or anything!)?:rolleyes1

We did Tony's last year. Like you said, it's okay. This year we will be trying Liberty Tree Tavern before our MVMCP on 12/9.

We did the Grand Floridian Cafe before MNSSHP last year and that was great and for MVMCP we did tea at the Grand Floridian, but that was three adults, no kids.

Just wanted to say that you need to decide soon as most of the MK restaurants and probably monorail restaurants are probably already booked up on party nights.

We enjoyed Crystal Palace, Tony's, 1900 Park Fare, Ohana's, and Chef Mickey's before parties.

Good luck!

We get the last seating at CP before the park closes to non ticket holders. We relax and eat a great meal while the park clears out

WE have done both 'Ohana and Kona before a Christmas party. Both worked out great. We did an early ADR-around 5 PM, ate, and took the monorail right into MK. We also did Kona before the Halloween party last year. I'm not too into the MK restaurants, so this worked out well for us.

Like another poster said, you can assume that all the MK restaurants and a lot of the monorail restaurants are already booked up for MVMCP nights. I know we tried to get an ADR at LTT weeks ago and weren't able to (the fact we have 8 in our party might have been part of the problem).

How about trying one of the restaurants at the WL? We'll be eating at Artist's Point before our party on 12/13. You could do that or go to WCC.

Which of the two are more kid friendly at the WL -- I have my 11 yo, my extremely picky 7 yo and my little guy who eats everything (love that!) who's 18 mos.....Whispering Canyon or Artist Point???? Thanks!

Whispering Canyon. Artist's Point is a Signature Dining Experience (2TS, if you are on the Dining plan) and a little "fancier". You could also try Kona Cafe. I have not had any problems getting ADR's for Kona Cafe for our December trip. I have changed our ADR's quite a few times (for Kona, especially) and have always been able to get what I want or close to it (and MVMCP is going on five out of the eight nights that we will be there). We are doing CRT at 4:15 for dinner before our MVMCP on December 11th. Hope we have as good a time as you did . . .

Whispering Canyon is definitely more kid-friendly. It just has a fun atmosphere. Artist Point is more upscale--it may be a waste of money for your picky eater.

Whispering Canyon is definitely more kid friendly than Artist Point. My DD loved Whispering Canyon when she was younger. We do still enjoy it occasionally.

For the parties, we've done LTT and CP. We are not fans of Tony's. The Plaza Restaurant is nice. But DH likes buffets - he's a big eater. Chef Mickey's is always wonderful. This year we are doing CP before the Pirate and Princess Party in August and we are eating at 1900 Park Faire before MVMCP.

Last yr we ate at Liberty Tree Tavern this year we are eating at the Crystal Palace. My DH LOVES Winnie the Pooh and I got this to surprise him.

Okay - thanks guys ....I'm thinking either Whispering Canyon (I did hear that it was a "fun" place to eat) or Crystal Palace --- I haven't been there for a couple of years --- love the characters but I feel like it's just too bright inside for me......I like things a little more subdued -- maybe it's too many mirrors or something.

Everyone enjoy wherever you go --- and Happy Holidays!

We eat at the Plaza Restaurant. Works great for us. I've tried eating both out of the park and in the park before parties and found that when we ate out of the park "Grand Floridian Cafe", we got to the party so late that the lines were long all night. This is due to the fact that these restaurants don't open until around 5:00 and by the time you get done it's already after 6:00.

We now make a reservation in the park for an early dinner, start doing rides early, and have a snack during the parade. We like the Plaza since it is usually not very crowded and has nice simple fresh food.
