We have never had a problem negotiating MK, AK or HS w/food allergies. This year we are adding Epcot dining to our touring and am hoping for some suggestions from other food-allergy families. I'd love to hear your experiences.

[Son allergic to peanuts, tree-nuts, soy, beans, peas, many seeds and many other legumes.]

Our DD has a tree nut allergy. We ate in England and The Land (Sunshine Seasons). We asked in China for food allergy info and they had a sheet to show us so I'm assuming all the countries would have that.

My neice has a tree nut allergy and we just went this past June..I called in advance and gave all of my confirmation numbers to the operator for reservations and explained her allergy. She placed them in all of our dinning reservations. We pretty much had someone from most of the restraunts come up to us and ask, who has the allergy? and explain to us what they were going to do, what she could/could not eat...Ohana's chef was excellent! He went above and beyond, gave her a tiered ice cream that looked amazing..Not sure about some of the restraunts that are "not Disney" their policy? but they were very accomidating for the ones we went to. Good luck!

WDW is wonderful working with those who have allergies.

If you post in the disabilities board you will get tons of people with experience on how to, where to and what to do.

Have fun!!

I bring my nephew to Disney every year and he has shellfish and egg allergies. In general, I have found the EPCOT restaurants able to accommodate him. My group doesn't eat at China because there is so much shrimp on the menu. We have taken him to Coral Reef, Tokyo Dining, Akershus, Rose and Crown, Marrakesh, Biergarten, all with no issues.

The only place we had a problem was Chefs de France. There is egg in practically everything there--the breads, pasta, all the desserts. Poor kid ended up having to eat a plain hamburger patty, some salad greens, and a scoop of sorbet for dessert. The restaurant folks felt bad, they just did not have the ingredients on hand to accommodate his allergy. Our waiter did tell us if we wanted we could go outside to get other food and bring it back in for him.

It s definitely worth contacting the Disney allergy specialist and letting her know which restaurants you are thinking about eating at. I probably still have her email somewhere if you need it.

Thanks!
We have always had good experiences elsewhere in WDW, but I am a bit concerned about Epcot. :P
Thanks for the other link, too!!!

WDW does a great job with food allergies. When we went 5 years ago with my whole extended family, my grandmother is allergic to peanuts and my sister to tree nuts. We made sure we told our server at every restaurant and the chef came out and explained to them what was safe for them to eat. Sometimes they even made them special desserts in case the others were around nuts. It really is great how they cater to people in WDW!

My DS is allergic to nuts, coconut, etc. We were there last Sept & didn't have a problem in any of the parks or restaurants. Apparently the note on our ADRs was only added to the Coral Reef ADR. I was shocked when the hostess asked about the allergy before I said anything. She suggested I stop at the guest services desk at the resort & have them add the note to the rest of our ADRs.

If the staff didn't mention anything about the allergy, we made sure to do so. A chef came to talk to us at each of the table service restaurants to let us know what DS could & could not eat. If I remember correctly, they cooked his fish on a separate grill or in a separate pan from the rest of the food to avoid potential nut contamination. On the kids' build your own sundae for dessert, the substituted M&Ms or something for the nuts. The staff everywhere was great!

For CS meals, I asked to make sure they didn't use peanut oil, etc.

I would just be sure to mention the allergies when you get seated or are ordering from a CS location. It is pretty amazing how they accomodate everyone with allergies!

Good luck & have a great trip!
