Quick questions, not sure if anyone knows the answer...I've been searching for over an hour now and can't find my answer...

Because I'm staying in a studio there won't be a washer/dryer and i'm there for 2 weeks so i'm going to have to do laundry. Where would the DVC laundry be at Jambo House? I know I saw there is a coin-op by the pool, but for DVC we get to use the laundry for free and I want to say when I stayed last year I thought I saw a laundry on the 5th floor and you needed to use your card to enter...I had a 1 bedroom so I never checked it out. Can someone confirm where the laundry for DVC is and that it's free for us?

Thanks!

That was it! 5th floor on the Zebra Trail and you do need the room key card to access it. As I recall, it had 2 regular top loading washing machines, 1 front loader and 4 or 6 dryers all free of charge.

Hmm. Do you know if they have one in Kidani?

1st floor near the Community Hall and Arcade. No key card access required to the Kidani laundry, tho.

I only know this because we've stayed in studios in both places and used the DVC laundry at each location. I loooove being able to pack light. :rotfl:

I think you meant 2nd floor, not 1st floor. The lobby, Community Hall, etc. are on the 2nd floor. The only things on the 1st floor are Sanaa, the cocktail lounge and the parking garage.

Oops! You're absolutely right - thanks for the correction and pointing out my error! I guess I just don't consider the parking garage as the first floor though it obviously is. :)

I agree with you. It feels like the lobby is the 1st floor and that Sanaa is in a walk-out basement since it has windows only along the back. But technically, the lobby level/lowest room floor is numbered as the 2nd floor.

Are they free? All I need is detergent?
Yes the use of the washers and dryers is free. There will be a vending machine in the laundry room where you can purchase single-load boxes of detergent for $1 each. I think the resort stores sell bottles of liquid laundry detergent.

If I pay cash for a stay at animal kingdom lodge jambo house rather than using my dvc points, do I get to use the laundry service? If yes, is it free or coin operated? thanks

Is any of your stay using vacation club points? If not then I'd say that you will probably have to pay as you need to use your key to the world card to access the room and I bet they only give the access to those there using dvc points. There is a coin-op laundry located on the first floor near Simba's Cubhouse. Washers and Dryers are $2.00 each. Soap is available for $1.00. There is a sitting room with TV for those choosing to wait for their clothes to finish.
If you are a DVC member then I'd say to bring your membership card and show it to the person at the front desk and maybe they can give you access to the laundry room....it's worth a shot.

Yes they are free. When you check into your room you may already have a box of tide there. I know for sure with the 1 bed and above they start you off with 1 free box and then anytime you have housekeeping in the room they will often leave you another. In my experience when they know you actually do laundry they seem to leave more than one. I've been doing my laundry the last 5 years and have not had to buy detergent yet. If I see housekeeping near my room and I'm out will nicely ask if it's possible to get an extra box or 2 and I've never had them say no.
Another thing you can do if you know you will be doing laundry is to bring the small boxes with you. You can usually buy them in the travel section of any store where they sell the little bottles of shampoo and stuff. Or if you want to save money premeasure out the powder and put them in individual baggies.

I'm confused by your post. Are you saying you are staying in an AKLodge hotel room? If so, then your keycard will not work in the lock on the laundry room door since the free laundry is for AKVillas/DVC guests, not AKLodge/hotel guests. If you are staying in an AKVilla on cash (member discount, booked through MS) then I expect it would work. If you are staying in an AKVilla booked through CRO then I'm not sure.
