My dd2 wants nothing more than to have her birthday party with the princesses. She keeps telling me that they will bring her pink cake. What are my options for this? I am thinking either GF or Epcot? Nothing else, right? Also, do the princesses ever bring out cake for a child? I would think that it may dirty the costumes so no. I would love to hear any recommendations.

I would recommend Princess Storybook in Norway. But no, the princesses, don't bring out any cake. You may be able to arrange a special cake to be delivered by your server. There are links on Restaurant thread regarding ordering special cakes.

When we've been at PSB for DD's birthday, they've done different things. Most times they bring a birthday card signed by the staff. Once, at lunch (before it was all princesses) she got to wear a cape, and hold a sceptor, during her meal, plus they gave her a Magical Moments Certificate to celebrate her special day.

Make sure you get your DD a birthday button, and she can wear it for more than just her special day. When we've been there on, or near, DD's birthday, she'll usually wear it for a few days since we are celebrating her birthday during the whole trip. However, when she was younger she was quick to point out that it wasn't really her birthday! I would just tell them that we were "celebrating" her birthday that day. If she wears the button, she'll get some special attention.

I recommend getting (one) button at Epcot Guest Relations. Most of the time (if they aren't too busy) when you ask for a button, they will ask your DD's name. After you tell them they will say they had a call for her earlier. Then they make a call, and Goofy comes on the line to talk to your DD. It's great! This has happened a few times to my DD and she thinks Goofy is very funny. We had this happen twice at Epcot Guest Relations, once at Mouse Gear (store) in Epcot (FW), and once in lobby of Brown Derby. It's definitely a Magic Moment :wizard:

Have a wonderful :bday: with your DD! :cloud9:

Thanks so much for your post. We are in MK on the 28th with no ADR. We had to switch our Epcot day and now we do not have the Princess meal in Norway. I guess that if worse comes to worse I can get her the pin to wear during the P&P party on the 28th. That way she may at least get some attention even without the cake. I can then get her something to make her feel special.

We had friends who celebrated their son's 3rd bday at Chef Mickey's. They said they were somewhat disappointed b/c there was nothing special about it. They thought a character was going to bring out the cake (which they had read about), but it was the waitress. They asked that their son's name be put on the cake, but it wasn't. Of course it was great to be there for his birthday, but they were hoping for a little bit more. :guilty:

Call Disney Dining and see if there is availability at 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian. Prince Charming, Cinderella, Fairy God Mother, 2 mice are there for dinner. The cakes can be special ordered, there is a phone number on the thread that was previously mentioned. The cakes are delicious. It is being remodeled, but it is still in the GF.

the cancellation policy for CRT is 24 hours. for princess storybook, it's 48 and both carry penalties for noshows so there will be cancellations. there really is no comparison for the 2 of them, especially the castle for a princess birthday (but you don't want dinner there). custom cakes do require a minimum of 48 hours to order i think though.

if you keep trying, like literally at least 3 times a day (or until whenever it takes), i'm willing to bet you'll get in to at least one of the meals if you're flexible enough.

unless she has a particular favorite princess, there may be other possible suggestions to be made

Thanks for the advice. I cancelled some prime adrs so I feel that I kinda deserve to get something.:rolleyes1 I will keep trying, 10 more days!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Well, there's also the tea party at the GF, but it is very pricy. (Alice isn't exactly a princess, but she's fun.) The cancellations are a real possibility, though. It's always worth it to keep trying!

Also, if you can't get a meal with the princesses, remember that there is a princess greeting area at the MK in Toontown. There is a line, and you don't know who exactly will be there, but there are princesses. When we took my goddaughter, it was her 4th birthday and she had a birthday button. She got lots of attention from the princesses (Cinderella and Snow White that day). We also went to see story time with Belle near the castle, and Belle made quite a fuss over the birthday, too.

the wonderland tea party with alice and the mad hatter isn't that expensive (it's about $30). you might be thinking about the my perfectly princess tea party with aurora though.. that's about $225 for one parent and one child and includes a keepsake special edition disney doll

Toontown may be a good bet. We are going to be at the P&P party so she will see plenty of princesses. Thank you all for the info. We have 3 girls altogether so the $225 one is way out of our price range. The other tea party $30 may be better but I thought that it was not going on during the renovations at 1900. Does anyone know if I am wrong?

it's still going on as far as i know, only it's at the GF Cafe during the park fare refurb.
