where to buy peppermint bark?

Saw some at Trader Joes last night and thought of this thread!!

I am totally addicted to the Gharadelli (no idea if I spelled that right) individual Peppermint Bark Squares!! They are awesome!!!! Walmart has the cheapest bags around...about $5.50 a bag!:thumbsup2

DD tried some of this in Downtown Disney last year. I need to grab some to put in her stocking!

My dad got some in a Hickory Farms basket last year and we gobbled it all up! Tried to recreate it without much success. I'll have to try the recipe mentioned here!

I made this tonight. It turned out pretty well. However the top layer came loose from the bottom layers on some of the squares. DH loves it anyway!
And it looks so pretty!

I melt white chocolate chips, those candy making disc or white almond bark. You can also buy red or green candy melts and use those. Then I take a rolling pin, a ziploc and a box of Bobs soft peppermint candy and smash it to bits LOL (Candy sticks in the zip lock, wrapped in a towel and smash smash smash). I guess you could use a good food processor for this?

Take the chocolate, melt it in the microwave on increments of 30 seconds, stirring between each time and when it's smooth, mix in the peppermint bits and powder from the ziplock. Spread it in a baking pan until it's about 1/4" thin....pop it in the freezer and 20 minutes later it should be hard enough. When I take it out...I just cover the pan and drop it on the table a couple of times....it's so thin that it breaks up nicely on it's own. Separate the pieces in to gift bags and done.....very simple and very yummy.

That's a really easy recipe!

I made some pretzel bark and peppermint bark last weekend, and the recipe called for 2 tablespoons oil to be added to the chips for melting.

I ended up adding like 6 tablespoons to the white chocolate, it just WOULD NOT melt. I only did 2 tablespoons with the milk chocolate chips and it worked fine, but it didn't firm up well in the fridge.

So I could just skip the oil part? That would be nice.

Can you buy it with white chocolate only? I'm allergic to regular chocolate (cocoa). I'm going to try the above recipe with the white chips from AC Moore. Thanks for sharing.

make this yearly. its Paula Dean's recipe..
I have added oreos and also made another layer with melted chocolate chips. I buy the ghiardella white chocolate chips.

Ingredients
Crushed candy canes, to yield 1 cup
2 pounds white chocolate
Peppermint flavorings, optional
Directions
Place candy canes in a plastic bag and hammer into 1/4-inch chunks or smaller. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Combine candy cane chunks with chocolate (add peppermint flavoring at this point if desired.) Pour mixture onto a cookie sheet layered with parchment or waxed paper and place in the refrigerator for 45 minutes or until firm. Remove from cookie sheet and break into pieces (like peanut brittle.)
