Where to buy inexpensive pop?

I need to buy approx. 8 2-liter bottles of assorted soda for a church function. I am just wondering if you have any recommendations as to who has any good deals this week? I am not looking necessarily for name brands, but for a little variety--a little lemonade, punch, maybe an orange, root beer, and a couple colas and lemon lime? My options would be Jewel, Wal-Mart and possibly Target if the price were right. Any thoughts?

If budget is a big concern, consider making tea and lemon-aid. MUCH cheaper. We watch the chain grocery stores to see who has the lowest price. Rarely is Wal-mart or Target able to top those. Sometimes we find them for 1.00 each but more often 4 for 5.00 is typical.

My grocery store always has something for $1.00, usually the store brand. 8 2-liters of pop shouldn't break the bank, but if you are looking for something cheaper PP has the right idea with making iced tea or lemonade.

Good Luck!

Well, they're specifically asking for pop, and I am okay spending $8-$10 (for the 8 bottles) but since I never buy pop I didn't want to walk into say Jewel or Wal-Mart and end up paying $2.00 a bottle. I just really don't have a grasp of how much it costs to begin with. I am okay buying generic brands.
Just thought I would find out in general how much it costs and who might have any special deals this week.

Thanks for the advice all!

I don't know what your budget is or what kind of stores you have in your area. Around here the prices range from .88 (store brand on sale) to 1.29 (name brand regular price.) If you are buying 8 bottles you would only be paying 3.28 more for the most expensive. Maybe things are different in your area.

I am in Aurora....

the Jewel ad today has Dr. Pepper, 7Up, A&W, Sunkist....77 cents each for a 2 liter bottle with a limit of 8 total.

The sale goes Thurs-Sunday.

:)

Supermarkets here always have soda on sale- this week Pepsi products are 1.00 for a 2 liter bottle, can't get soda much cheaper than that.

Wow, name brand soda never goes below $1 on sale here.

OP, store brand 2L are pretty cheap, but if you want name brand just check your local grocery store flyers online to see who has what on sale this week.

This is what we pay.
Walmart had the least expensive soda around here.
$1.00 for name brand (Pepsi in my case) and .88 cents for generic or flavored pop such as strawberry, grape, orange or pineapple.

Walmart always has something for under $1. I saw assorted generic brand sodas for $0.89 last time I was at the store. And in those exact flavors, fruit punch, lemonade, cola, orange, grape...

That Jewel price is about as good as it gets.
Kroger here in KY has 7up products for .75 this week.

Another option is the Walgreen 10 calorie soft drink deal. Buy a 2 litre for $1, get $1 off your next purchase. I've been doing that with ginger ale all week with the sickies around here, spend the dollar for the pop, then use the $1 to buy paper towels.

I was going to say the same thing-maybe OP doesn't know that walmart/target have sales flyers online? :confused3 Our supermarkets around here do as well. I would also suggest checking CVS/Walgreens if you have those stores-they sometimes have 2 liters on sale for 99 cents.

Walmart sells their brand of soda, Sam's Club Select I think it's called and the 2 liter is .78. They have quite a few flavors....can't recall all of them, but we've used their cola, diet cola, Dr Thunder (knock off of Dr Pepper) and gingerale. My daughter thinks they also had cherry cola and something clear like sprite/7up knock off.

I've never bought the soda at dollar store, but have seen the big banner in their window often that says it's 2/$1 so that's .50 each....you might check if your store runs deals like that.

I agree with the other posters, that if soda isn't required, making up a big batch of lemonade and iced tea or even koolaid can be a lot cheaper. As in literally pennies instead of dollars.

You can get store brand at Kroger or Walmart for around 89 cents to 99 cents per 2 liter. You can usually find name brand 2 liters at Walmart for around $1.50. SO no matter if you go with name brand or store brand you should be able to do it for around $10. I doubt you will find anything cheaper.

Check shoplocal dot com. You set your location by entering your ZIP code, then search for 'whatever'. The site will show you what's on sale where and for how long.

Dollar Tree has 3 liters for $1 fruit punch, orange, cola, diet cola, grape, lemon-lime, root beer.
