Okay, this probably seems like a wierd, nit-picky kind of question, and I realize this is subjective, but they do not sell the same brands of bread in Orlando that they do where we live and we have yet to choose a brand that we like when we buy groceries on vacation. We like multi-grain type sandwich bread and it seems to me we tend to gravitate towards Pepperidge Farm brand. I find that inspite of what it says it is, this brand is very light-weight and spongey, like cheap white bread. We just want a bread with a little more substance to it. Any recommendations?

Of the FL supermarkets, I think Publix will be your best bet to find
one you'd be happy with. Unfortunately Gooding's (a pricey tourist trap of a supermarket IMHO) seem to be most prevailent
around theme park property and I personally dont like the store.
Ask at your hotel where the nearest Publix is.

There is a place i buy my fresh bread here in Ohio and there is some of them in Orlando one is on west sands lake rd it's called Panera bread, it's a cafe too. good food and great breads! but i take bread home all the time haven't found anything better than them.

I know exactly what you're talking about! I tend to shop by price, more than brand, and it took me a while to figure out which sliced breads were like Wonder bread and which ones weren't! We didn't really eat bread before DS was born & old enough to chew. :)

Around here, some of the Arnolds breads are decent. The ones that say "whole wheat" vs just wheat tend to be more substantial. You can also tell by picking it up. Less dense breads are lighter, as you might imagine!

I wasn't thrilled with the Publix we hit. There are a few super walmarts around, with a big grocery selection. The new winn dixie down past Crossroads a bit (away from DD) is very nice.

Thanks everyone. I find that it's so hard to explore our options while we are on vacation with the children, so your input helping me prepare ahead of time is a huge time-saver. Love these boards.
