Where to buy Disney themed...

I am making the kids goody bags/baskets for the trip and I need help on what to put in them. My plan is to have things in them for the car drive down, about 7 hours. Snacks, toys, anything to keep them "busy" for a while. Obviously it needs to be something on the smaller side but I am at a loss. I was thinking about swords and stuff, but when I am driving I don't really want to be getting "my head cut off"!!

Snack wise:
I know I can get fruit snacks at all the grocery stores in Nemo, Cars, Princess, etc. What about individual pretzel packs or chips or ??? Total open here! I can always make Mickey shaped something to eat, any ideas?

Toys:
They can't really color in the car so coloring books are out. We have a ton of the disney play cell phones. I was thinking about light sabors or toy spinners that light up and they can use at night in the parks.

Things we will buy once at the park forsure are ears and autographs books. The boys are 3 1/2 and 20 months. Any ideas of things to occupy them while getting excited about Disneyland?

I was just shopping at the Disney Character warehouse in Citrus Heights today! My first time there. I was as little dissapointed because they didn't seem to have the huge discounts on stuff that they had when I was at the Anaheim one.

Of course there was a huge discount off the regular prices, but not the $3 t-shirts and sweatshirts (racks full of them) I saw in Anaheim.

And there were NO toys! I did manage to get some Hawaiian print mouse ears for dh (he ONLY wears aloha shirts in the summer, lol), two aloha shirts for the boys, and girly mouse ears for my mom and I.

I'm going to be making baskets for them but won't give them to everyone until the first night at the hotel.

I'm going to to jammies, t-shirts, stuffed animals, etc. If you're more concerned about the trip down, I would try to find some Disney coloring books, etc.

Oh, I did get a DL souvenier picture book for three bucks, that has pictures of most of the popular rides at both parks. My boys have been pouring over it all afternoon, deciding what rides they want to go on.

And I am snickering at the vision of you getting whacked with plastic swords on the drive down.

Boy do I know what you mean. I got hit once with a sword ds snuck in the car and I thought I was going to pass out from the blow. He really clocked me. When I turned around he looked so frightened I just started laughing. Obviously he didn't think it would reach that far as to decapitate mommy.

The snacks we bring are pretzels, grapes, ritz crackers with cheese, baby carrots, water and capri suns to drink.

Toys, I usually bring coloring books and colored pencils. Crayons melt in a hot car in the desert. (learned that the hard way) I know you said they dont color in books much. Well, we also bring those travel magna doodles they are about 6"X8" so not the big ones and not the keychain ones. These can occupy them for hours scribbling and erasing. They also have leapster games to take as well but your kids are too young for that.

What we have found the best is MOVIES! Wow Dh and I can actually have a conversation in the car uninterupted. It's amazing. We had 1 portable tv that we put inbetween front seats of our van but they fought over movies to watch. Now we have 2 of those portable DVD players and dd wears her headphones. ds isn't big enough to keep them on so we can hear his but they cant hear eachothers. The 20 month old is obviously way to young to have one of these just for himself but one to share might be great hung from the headrests. They are a lifesaver for long car rides.

I would check out the dollar store for cheap Disney stuff. I've heard people on the board saying they got some great deals there. Good Luck!

Do you have a kroger near by? someplaces it is kroger , here they are Smiths, they have alot of Disney food . Check out your local dollars stores , you can be surprised at the stuff they get, ours gets disney books and stickers from time to time.

As far as snacks go, Walmart has Disney themed snack cakes and donuts and Albertsons has the Disney prepackages sliced apples in red or green! We buy those every week for lunches!!!

I agree, if you can hit a character wherehouse near you, it's a great idea and you can get stuff for really great prices!!

Hmm, no Kroger or Smith's out here. Any other store like that, I am in CA. I have seen all the new disney food they came out with in a magazine and on line but haven't been able to find it. I have been to our $ store and nothing Disney. Maybe next trip there...gotta love a $ store, you never know what you'll find!

I was at our local Disneystore jut last weekend and bought some things to keep DS2 busy on our flight. They had a play camera that you can look through and take "pictures" and it talks back to you. They had different characters. I also got a couple of light up toys mainly for the evening times but you could use them in the car. There are a ton of small Disney items in our Disneystore including character figurines, cars for the movie "Cars" etc.

Some of the non-Disney items I have found helpful are:
- Magna doodle, they make a travel size
- felt board to make different scenes (you can make these yourself)
- magnets and a cookie sheet (letters, shapes etc)
- older one could do travel bingo. have him/her look for things during the trip such as different color cars, barn, bridge etc. and mark on a board.
-dvd player is wonderful if your children watch tv
- wrap small presents and give them one to open up when all else fails. my kids love opening presents and really don't care what they are opening. I buy things at the dollar store and it keeps them occupied for a while and also makes them forget why they were whining, crying or fussing in the first place

There is sort of a problem with us I guess...the boys have everything. They have the phones, the cameras, the watches, etc. I went on line today and they are having a huge sale at disney.com. I am going to get some figurines, light up toys for night time and one other thing that I can't remember that was perfect. They have the color wonder pens with Nemo and a Cars book that they haven't used in a while. I am hiding them until our trip and they can use those.
-I love the idea of magnets and cookie sheets. Totally doing that!
-Yup we are taking the travel DVD player with us and a bunch of movies.
-I forgot we had letters and number cards all Disney themed and we will take those.
