Where to buy decent but inexpensive polo shirts?

We're hearing back to school soon here in Florida and I just found out that this year staff is going to have to wear uniforms.

Basically, we'll have to buy shirts and take them to the uniform store and they will embroider them. Don't even get me started on the time and expense of that. :confused3

I want to buy a bunch of polo shirts - about 10, and get those embroidered. In the past I've bought polos from Old Navy, but find now that they are very thing and poor quality. I don't mind polos from Walmart, but find they shrink really easily.

Any suggestions on other places to look? Most national chains are nearby, so I'm open to any suggestions.

Lands End. They might not be as cheap as Walmart or Old Navy, but the quality is better.

You could also get them embroidered thru Lands' End unless you have particular artwork that you need or the school requires you to use their embroiderer (probably the case).

Used to aggravate the heck out of me that our private school in FL wouldn't use Lands' End for their uniforms but made us buy these crappy but expensive embroidered shirts from one particular company. At least I was able to buy the khakis through Lands' End.

I suggest Land's End - excellent quality and very good sales. Our Sam's Club currently has Izod polos for about $4 apiece but supply is dwindling. Good luck!

I second Lands End. I had to wear shirts that were embroidered for a job once and that is the brand I used. A little more expensive but worth it because they will keep shape and hold up.

Specific artwork *and* a specific embroiderer. I'm at least glad that they are willing to let us bring in our own shirts to use.

I'm going to check out the Lands End polos for sure! I don't mind spending a little extra for better quality as these will clearly get use. I think I'm going to supplement with some dress shirts from Old Navy, so I have a little variety. I'm also going to get a cardigan embroidered. That way I can still wear some of my other work tops.

I have had good luck buying decent quality shirts at a decent price at JC Penny stores.

I also agree that Lands End polos are best, but if your looking to spend less, check Jcpenney. I found their Izod and Arizona polos quality to be pretty good for about half the price of Lands End.

I recommend Lands End. When they have sales, their prices are comparable to Walmart/Target prices (be aware, though, that their sizing is more true--you don't have to buy a size up to make up for shrinkage and cheaping out when cutting the fabric). You can make returns to Sears, which is really handy.

If you have a Van Heusen Factory outlet store nearby, I was just at one in Orlando three days ago and they were selling good quality polos for $8.99

When our daughter transfered to a school wiht a uniform policy we purchased her uniforms at JCP and Old Navy. The clothes from Old Navy were by Izod and Arizona, and held up really well! In fact her younger sister is now wearing some of the clothing. Old Navy has been announcing that their uniform clothing is on sale.

Do you know who the uniform company is? Many times it is more cost effective in the long run to just purchase through them since their products are fairly indestructible.

Even if you pay $9 for the shirt & they only charge you $3-$4 for each embroidery, factor in your time... :confused3 Plus, there will be a good chance you will have to replace them again the following year. We very easily got at least 2 years x 2 boys out of the uniform-company products.

You may pay more for Lands End but they will hold up and look nice even at the end of the year! I suspect, should you have any wear they will also stand behind their brand and replace them.

Keep your receipt:
The Lands' End guarantee has always been an unconditional one. It reads: "If you're not satisfied with any item, simply return it to us at any time for an exchange or refund of its purchase price." I buy MEN'S polos from either Walmart or JC Penny's. The men's seem to last longer and shrink less. They also are more likely to have the school colors in men's sizes around here. I'm tall and overweight, but even when I was thin, the men's sizes fit me better. They run longer with wider shoulders, while the women's seemed to just get wider.

Lands End. I buy my kids' uniform polos there. They run 30% off often. Just sign up for their emails or "Like" them on facebook.
