hi,

what store can i buy 100% cotton t-shirts at? i know i can get them online, but i need various sizes.

HELP!!

has anyone tie dyed on 50/50?

thanks,wendy

I have bought 100% cotton tees at a craft store near us called "Total Crafts" for only $1.99 apiece.

K-Mart also sells them in a 3-pack in the men's department for about $5.99.
I also got a 3-pack of them at Target last month in the men's department.

I did tye-die with a 50-50 blend a few years ago - - they came out faded looking. Never again.

Walmart carried them until a few weeks ago here---I guess tshirts are "Seasonal" here in PA. I didn't check your location before I started writing this.

Craft stores like Michaels, or AC Moore carry them, too. They are usually a little thicker than the undershirt kind, which always seem too thin (to me ) to wear alone. But might feel better in the heat of WDW!

Be careful of the shirts in ACMoore and Micheal's. I bought one there to tie-dye and didn't realize until after I dyed it (and it came out pastel) that it was a 50/50 blend. If you want it pastel, the 50/50 would be fine, but DS13 didn't want to wear a pink Mickey!

hmmm I'll have to pay attention! I know I used 100% cotton t's once and they still faded--I blamed the dye. I tried some new ones that are sooo vivid and bright --Dylon brand. They have a green that is really a DIS green--I'm going to have to make one for me with it! I let the boys tie dye with them last year and they are still perfect after all the washings.

Not sure if this would be helpful to you at all but there is: www.dharmatrading.com
They sell shirts just for dyeing, as well as dresses, onesies, pants, and all sorts of clothing. . . .they also sell professional dyes and dyeing instructions.
I've never ordered from them, yet, but I have a friend who professionally dyes and this is where she gets all her stuff, and she swears by them.

Thanks everyone for all of your help!!

Got some of the AC moore shirts today for iron on's, but still looking for 100% cotton ones for the bright colors that i can buy in a store and dont have to order since we are goign to try to dye them on monday,,,

I have been getting the 100% cotton ones at Walmart. I think they were $3.87 each! They have turned out great also!

At walmart, did you look in the men's underwear section or the regular shirt section?? were you able to find any for kids at walmart? babies? i gotta go to walmart---DH says no!!! hopefully we will stop there tomorrow night!!

thanks :cool1:

I got a 5 pack of boys 100% cotton by Hanes for $5.97 at Walmart over the weekend just for tie dying. They turned out pretty good for our first attempt. They were in a big cardboard display in the middle of an aisle between the girls and boys section. So that may give you an idea where they would be located.

Michael's sells a tie-dye kit ...the brand is RAINBOW ROCK. They have several different kits with different colors. It comes with the rubber bands, gloves, etc. I've used this several times & the shirts came out great..(Note: I do not put the shirts in the dryer, ever. I just drip dry them.

I got tshirts from blankshirtstore.com, and was really pleased with them.

I also bought the tie dye kit from Michael's, it was $19.95, but I had a 40% off coupon. I was at Hobby Lobby, right across the street from Michael's, the next day, and the exact same kit was there for $14.95. Since I had the coupon Michael's was cheaper, but it just shows that it pays to shop around.

I bought Hanes tagless at Wal-mart. They were supposed to be made out of pre-shrunk cotton. I prewashed them and they shrunk. I would get the next size larger. These are a little thin, also.

The 40% Michael's coupon is in the Michael's ad that comes in my Sunday paper each week.
