Where is the best place to be on New Year's Eve? Are there special things going on in each park? We are trying to decide whether or not to add an extra night to our reservations and stay until January 1st. Is everything crazy on N.Y.E.?

this new years, my family and i went to mgm, we did some research before we planned everything, magic kingdom is def. out of th question, enless u don't want to do anything, that will be the first to close. next people will go to epcot casue its the biggest.... mgm was crowded but managable,we used our fastpasses, we had PS for the 6:30 fantasmic which worked out really well. in magic kingdom they have fantasy in the sky at 11:59, and it goes for 30 minutes. mgm has their old fireworks show sorcory(spelling?) in the sky at 11:50. they sell beer in all the parks and they r all open to 1:00 am. except for animal kingdom of course.... so i would suggest going to mgm, we liked it alot and r going back there this new years.

We had a blast at Disney Studios this year. First time I went to a NYE party since 1979 when I met my husband. The band was fantastic and Sorcery in the Sky was so neat. We went to the 2nd of 3 Fantasmic shows, did Sounds Dangerous (it's always so crowded - NOT), and a few other things. We stayed at the Dolphin for NYE night so we walked over from the Dolphin and walked back after the party was over.

Any other ideas guys? Where are the thousands of you that were at the World during Christmas week... We just can't decide if we should stay an extra night and be there for NYE and if so what is the best place to be........... thanks again:)

i was there after christmas, from the 24th-jan3. mgm was managable on christmas day, but as the weekend came it got more crowded, then the next week it got very crowded.

We also spent NYE at MGM and had a great time. They passed out horns and party hats, so it really felt (and sounded) like NYE. I'm not sure if they did that at the other parks or not. The fireworks were awesome. The bands were very good, and people were dancing and partying all night long. It was crowded, but I'm sure the other parks had larger crowds.

DId this past NYE at Epcot. Went early entry that day (Epcot's turn), left park around 1:00 PM. Entrance worker said that if you get a stamp you will be guaranteed re-entry (we were also staying at AKL in the resort).

Came back around 6:00 PM - failry crowded. As we made our way back to England in the World, got quite a bit more crowded, but you could easily make your way. Everyone had hats and noisemakers! First fireworks/show at 7:30 PM & everything came to a stand still. Afterwards you could move around again. Midnight show was outstanding & very festive - great crowd but again you could get around.

From 9:00 - 10:30 or so no lines at the lesser rides/attractions for the most part. All in all, an excellent place to be.

We did MK 2 years ago...it was the best NYE ever, hopefully we will be there again this year. We did every ride we wanted to at least once, we just spent a lot of time on line, but it was fun.
3 years ago was MGM, same deal, lots of lines, lots of fun, awesome fireworks. both times we had "dead time" from around 9-10/11 pm....no more fastpasses to get or use and huge waits for rides we had already been on that day, so we found some place warm (at MK it was cosmic rays) and played cards until it was time to find a spot for the fireworks.
My only complaint....both years it was cold!! like 40 degrees. hard to stand outside ALL DAY when it is that cold.
