Hi all!
So this will be my families first trip to Disney World. We are so excited! We live in Northern Virginia and will take two days to drive down. I was initially thinking of stopping in Savannah, GA on our way down. That way we will have approximately 5 hours to drive on our arrival day. Now I'm thinking of going a little further, perhaps Brunswick, GA?
Any suggestions on where we should stop? My husband doesn't mind the drive but we'd rather split the trip into two days so we don't feel rushed. We will have a total of 9 days at WDW until we have to turn around and do the drive again!

Also, any good Marriott hotels you can recommend?? Thanks in advance :)

We come from Baltimore and always stop right outside of Savannah. Literally right off 95. I am sure there is a Marriott there. I think we usually stay at the Hampton Inn. The area is called Gateway but the address is Savannah

The exit for the Savannah/Hilton Head airport has a bunch of hotel options right off of 95, you can see them from the highway. I've stayed at the Fairfield that's there, no issues.

Love it there. There's a Walmart nearby too so you can pick up any last minute supplies before you hit Disney World.

Remember to stop at the Florida Welcome Center in the morning as soon as you go over the Florida border from Georgia. In addition to free orange and grapefruit juice, there are a ton of brochures and booklets that you can pick up. Look in the Central Florida section. It's really fun to have a lot of Disney brochures to look through in the car for the last few hours. Really helps build the excitement and helps the time go by a little faster.

I always stop at the Hampton Inn at the Savannah Airport exit. I think it's actually in Pooler, GA. Lot of nice restaurants there.

Another vote here for Savannah.. Last time my DD and I made a trip down to Florida (Clearwater actually with, of course, a side trip to Disney and US for good measure), we stopped at the Holiday Inn Express in Savannah (Gateway Blvd) right off I-95.

I'm just south of the OP (SE VA), and making the trip in one day is doable but is a bit rough. We opt to do it in two days also (less stress on everyone; riders and drivers alike).

We are going again in August and I'm trying to decide between stopping in Savannah or near Brunswick to shorten up the trip.

OP, Where do you plan to stop on the return trip?
