Hi, can you recommend lodging for 8-14 Jan 2014 for 5 adults and 2 toddlers. We need a full kitchen and would like to stay off property. I booked Wyndham Bonnet Creek 2 bedroom for $1350, but that seems pricey plus I am scared of the bug reviews. I also got a quote for Wyndham reunion for $1140. Looking for recommendations on these or other area 2 or 3 bedrooms with kitchens. Thanks so much!! I just registered and am so thankful for the advice of these boards. (And yes, my daughter insists on calling me MommyDonald:)

I'd recommend Windsor Hills. Check out WindsorHillsPrivateRentals com for a good choice for 2-3 bed condos and townhomes. Your party numbers of 5 adults suggest 2 bed would be too small but the quotes you've been given for a week are quite high (Wyndham resorts are not cheap). Windsor Hills is 2 miles from Disney and is a secure gated resort with excellent resort clubhouse and pool area.

You'll probably need the two-bedroom villa for a party of seven for the Villas of Grand Cypress. A few weeks ago, I met their VP of Sales/Events for a full presentation of this renovated property, and it made me consider switching from our normal Disney property resort to the Villas. This property is in the rear of Downtown Disney towards Route 535.

Have you checked homeaway.com? We used it several years ago to stay at a home in the Emerald Island and were really happy. We just used it again to book a stay for the week after Christmas at Cumbrian Lakes (further away than we have stayed before, but we decided to go with less planning time than normal). I have a co-worker that has booked through homeaway and stayed at Sweetwater Club condos and been very happy. The Windsor Hills recommended above looks very good as wells as the Windsor Palm community. We also looked into the Encantada and Terre Verde community through homeaway before deciding on Cumbrian Lakes for this trip. We rented a 4 bed house with garage converted into gameroom/tv room and private heated pool for $181/night including cleaning, taxes, pool heat etc. Considering this was for the week of New Years, we were thrilled at the price. Cheapest value hotel room at Disney was $189 (and we would have needed three- would have completely busted the budget)

Lots of places other than WBC. Try Floridays or Westgate Lakes Resort.

$1350 seems expensive for 6 nights, have you looked around. We always book with www.vacationupgrades.com. I would have thought you could get it for $120 a night.
I honestly wouldn't worry about bugs. I've lost count of the number of nights I have stayed there and never seen a bug or had a minute that I haven't loved. I really don't think that BC can be beaten for price, location, amenities etc. For the last 2 years we have also taken people with us. They have had their own two bed unit and absolutely loved the place and couldn't believe they got it for the price they did.

Sheraton Vistana Resort offers two bedroom units, some that sleep 8 (king bed in master, 2 doubles in 2nd bedroom, and a queen pullout sofa). The villas offer an updated kitchen (with all full sized appliances including a dishwasher) and a breakfast bar, a washer and dryer, two full bathrooms (one with a Jacuzzi tub, both with stand-up showers), dining room, and screened in private balcony. The room resort amenities are all excellent as well.....7 pools (two with waterfalls, one with a slide, one with poolside movies), 6 hot tubs, sand volleyball courts, lighted basketball courts, mini golf, daily scheduled activities, etc. Internet and parking are both free. All sections of the resort have been redone right down to the studs over the last several years, so everything feels new and updated. Location is prime......its very close to Downtown Disney.

We have a unit at SVR that we are looking to rent out, and we're only asking $850 for the week. $1350 seems very high for 6 nights for similar accommodations.

Mystic Dunes has 2 br units that sleep 8 or 3 br that sleep 12. I would suggest the 3 br to give you room to spread out. The third bedroom is a lockoff which has a bed, sofa, bathroom and kitchenette. More privacy for the family that stays in that part. The 2 br part has 2 beds in one bedroom and a king in the other. Two bathrooms and a full kitchen. It is right behind Windsor Hills, so very convenient to Disney.

I'm not sure how busy they are in January, but it seems late to be looking for a reservation. That is probably why you're finding higher prices.

try a few places that sell time share resorts, i've bought off ebay a few times but my main place i usually pick up a bargain at skyauctions.com
My favourite place is probably mystic dunes but we've stayed in a ton of time share places without any issues, another great place with a great location is silverlake.

Check the Vacation Rental By Owner web site lots of houses to rent for a lower price than what you have booked.

We booked a villa in Highgrove through vrbo.com and it was wonderful! 9 nights for $750 total for a 4-bedroom home that slept 8!

We used VBRO/Home Away and booked a 3 bed with private pool for $1500 including heated private pool all taxes and fees for an 11 day stay. I probably made 50 requests, and at the time we made our decision there were 6-7 that we turned down.

PM Me if you want some that were on the list that told me they were still available.

I think you will be much better off renting a home then trying to find a large enough suite, even in a timeshare. I have not used them but All Star Vacation Homes has a good reputation. In your situation that is the first place I'd check.

I have absolutely no connection to All Star Vacation Homes what so ever.

$1350.00 seems awfully high. I've seen lots of people getting two bedroom units at Wyndham BC for around $100.00-$120.00 per night.

As far as bugs, we just got back this past Monday night from Wyndham Bonnet Creek and never saw a bug. We were on the 10th floor of Tower 6 and the unit was spotless. I was on the 6th floor in Tower 5 in Sept and then we were on the 2nd floor in Tower 4 this past May. Never saw a bug inside the units on those trips either. We did see some lizards outside on the sidewalk around the lake though.:rotfl:

We stayed at Quality suites for one night. Nothing fancy. 2 bedroom plus a pull out in living room. Outdated fridge and small stove Area. Paid 156.00 a night. Included a standard breakfast. Close to DTD Disney. We would stay there again

At Villadirect dot com you will find 3 and 4 bedroom houses for under $100/night. They consistantly have the least expensive prices that I have found. The $1300 plus you mentioned in your original post is way to high, you can find many places with a lot more room for a lot less money.

OK, I am at work and bored so I searched villadirect and for your dates I was finding 3 bedrooms averaging $700/week.

Caribe Royale resort! They have a two bedroom that has 1 king 2 doubles and a fold out couch in the living room. Nice size kitchen with a full size fridge perfect for traveling with kids!!!

Are you advertising for Caribe Royal? It is kinda weird that at least 3 current threads have you posting this exact same quote. Do you honestly like the resort? Have you stayed there?
